The 1992 Ford Mustang had few changes from the other third-generation versions. Only a new special edition GT made a splash that year, with a red exterior and white leather interior. The public seemed unimpressed, and sales of the pony car continued to decline.
Even the 1992 Saleen did poorly, with only 17 of the Racecraft car sold. If you happen to have one of these today, you are one happy Mustang lover. The car was apparently quite powerful and fun to drive.
All the Special Edition (Feature Mustangs - there were a total of four) were 5.0 LX Convertibles, not GTs:
1990 Green
1992 1/2 Performance Red/White Top and Interior
1993 White/White Top/White Interior
and last a 1993 1/2 Yellow, nice 16" Chrome Wheels

This is a very fun and exciting car! Great for those sunny California days, and warm nights! I love everything about this car. It is all original, all the way down to the original chrome Pony's! You won't find another one like it! Dec 12, 2014

Fantastic car for the money. There is no better bang for your buck car. If you
want to go fast on a budget, a 5.0L 5 speed mustang made before 1995 will get
you there better than any other vehicle.Nov 30, 2013

One of the most reliable vehicles I have had the pleasure of owning...and always loads of fun with the top back and wind in the hair! Battery terminal corrosion and rebuilding the transmission only recurring problems...tip for terminal corrosion, get the little pack of petroleum jelly stuff from Advance and put on new terminals. After a friend and I did that, issue was never again a problem.
Truly a classic, the Fox bodystyle! Loved this little bundle of mechanical joy! Drove it 10 years ago when expecting my son and drove it 10 years later, when my son turned 9...wanted to totally restore it and give it as his first car, but a careless driver took that option off the table. Can say, though, that this little car was sturdy steel, as I was t-boned in the driver's side door at about 60mph....she took it like a champ!
I think the Ford Mustang is one of the finest pieces of American muscle ever produced, regardless of generation or engine size...driving home yesterday in my new Mustang convertible, I decided that the only thing I ever want to drive is a Mustang! And Ford just keeps getting better and better on Mustang style, drive, ride, and luxury! You can have a luxurious American sports car!!! Yay!!! The 2006 I just got rides more like a luxury vehicle than a sport vehicle, but with that tight, responsive r&p steering, the thrill of hanging a curve is still a THRILL!Jun 20, 2013

This car is just plain fun to drive. i love to kick the ass end out while going around a turn and that is easily done in this car. Also has a great sound to it. best aftermarket stuff too.Sep 10, 2009

Car is nice, Very fast for the price. Brakes suck lol. Not particularly good for turns and such, especially so in the snow and rain. The seats could use a little work. And the Engine temp gauge is always wrong. Not many repairs needed but the rear hatch's frequently get rusty. Poor gas mileage but I think that's given. Fun to drive? Very, It's a mustang.Sep 10, 2009

This car has so much possiblities. It is an amazing mustang with the best motor ever built by ford for the mustang. It is a cheap car to buy and fun to work with. For such little horsepower it is very fast!!!Aug 11, 2009

its a mustang! built by ford so you know its good its easy to get parts for and fairly cheap, has really bad gas milage, well compared to a 4 cyl honda but great compared to a 1/2 ton. really powerful and loves to go fast and slide sideways.Aug 09, 2009

It's a blast to drive. An old school ride with modern electronics. Very easy to personalize and responds very well to mods. Lots of aftermarket and second hand parts available for cheap.
Very understated styling that makes for an awesome sleeper, the almost spartan interior makes you focus on the driving experience. Five Point Os are sort of an urban legend, and even though they are more than 15 years old, lots of drivers still benchmark their new cars against them.Jun 19, 2009

Braking and handling are excellent. Unfortunately it can't get out of its own way. It has been for the most part reliable needing only basic maintainance. As for appearance. it is getting on in years and it shows. has some dings and dents. It is also starting to fade. It gets about 25MPG. It is not fun at all to drive. it is just way too slow. I keep it because it handles very well in rain, ice, and snow and for its reliability.May 09, 2009

This was my first car, I bought it for $300 and it looked like it cost that much, but I spent a lot of time working on it and turned out pretty well. I put a 5.0L V8 HO in it and man did that car get up and go. I sold it though because it was rear wheel drive and I couldn't make it around in the winter. Sad day indeed. (haha so young so foolish) But I'll get another some day!Apr 24, 2009

1992 Mustang LX with 302 bored to a 306. Mild cam,

The preformance acceleration hold on tight cuase here we go. Braking it could use some more whoa. Handling not to bad. Build Quality holds up good but for the ash tray cover always breaks. Cost of Ownership - Mileage you don't want to go there, but if you own one you must not care, maintenance well that depends on how you drive it. Fun Factor, mine has been dead for 5 years now and I won't get rid of her I love it that much.Feb 03, 2009

Not gunna lie, the engine is a little old, but well kept, it still has a TON of acceleration. Being able to powerslide around corners, and do wicked burnouts when ever i want is awesome. It does have some small thing that i need to get fixed, just little crap, most of which is cosmetic. I put an aftermarket air intake and that improved gas mileage by quite a bit. It has a little surface rust and the paint is starting to crack, but once again, its pretty minor. Jan 21, 2009

There is nothing bad to say about this car. Talk about a dream come true! It still looks beautiful and can turn heads when driving it, even 16 years after the day we brought it home. Handling, acceleration, looks; its got it all. Still the best car I've ever owned.Sep 24, 2008

This car was totally amazing. I put 353 gears, underdrive pullies, flowmaster exhaust and "H" pipes. It would do about 14 seconds in the quarter mile. I loved this car. I loved it so much I kept it for 13 years. The performance was great to the gt but was less expensive on insurance. and mine was a 5 speed manual transmission very rare in this modelAug 21, 2008

my car is a sleeper, has a dual over head cam and a turbo. custom exhaust, and has posi rear end, its quick for a four banger, has the minor problems here and there but all and all i like to drive it. It has only 185k and still runs like a champ. painted in pearlesent green, factory rims, 4 michilins imported from europe. and yea i like it and dont want to ever get rid of itAug 01, 2008

I like that fact that i fabbed a lot of the parts on it, subframe connectors, jacking rails, upper & lower control arms, panhard brace. Nope, it doesn't have any squeaks or rattles, just a blown motor mounted to a stand! Yep, when i has a blown 331 back in it.. it'll be a blast! Jul 16, 2008

well, its my first cars, and as a poor high school student, it was all i could afford. It doesnt look too good, kind of a bad year for the mustang. decent acceleration, it is a stang after all. brakes work and it turns. The roof was shot when i got it, so i put a new top on it. did i mention i hate convertibles now? Its white on the out side so it looks okay, but brick red interior. not exactly my choice of color. The greatest thing about this car is the gas. $30 every other week. 35 mpg. so im not complaining.Jul 11, 2008

My car won 1st Place in its class in the 2004 Silver Anniversary Mustang Show held in Phoenix, AZ by the CopperState Mustang Club.
I have owned Austin Healys,an MB 280SL,a Porsche 356B and 2 previous Mustang Convertibles ('83 LX 5.0 and '71 Cleveland V8). My '92 LX 5.0 is by far the best of the pack.Balanced Jun 02, 2008

I'm not the driver, only the passenger on this one, but it sure is lots of fun on the road on a hot summer's night! It hugs the asphalt and the V8 just oozes power on acceleration. The one chronic issue with this car when it was in frequent use was the fuel pump which had to be replaced a few times. This car is now enjoying semi-retirement and is only summer driven, but it still is an awesome ride! Apr 19, 2008

I have a 1992 Mustang convertible. It is bright red with white top, white interiors and white ponies. I love it. Everytime I take it for a ride and stop in a red light every body has something to say, Like, lets race, it is a beauty, how much you want for it, great conditions, etc...
I just love it...May 06, 2007
When I get in my car to start it up it revs up to 3000 RPM's by itself. It's not idling on its own without revving up and I have to turn the car off because stepping on the gas pedal doesn't correct it. I replaced the throttle position sensor and didn't help anyone else have any idea. It's a 1992 Ford Mustang 5.o
I was coming home from school and at first my turn signals was working. The next time I tried to use them it wouldnt work. When I turn the switch the lights on the dash board wont turn on and make the clicking sound. Then when I got home I turn the switch and got out the turn signals outside wont work either. So the thing is that all my turn signals wont work but there is no blown fuse.
Have a 92 lx 5.0l mustang that will not start. There is spark, the fuel pump has just been replaced. Thought that was the problem. Have heard it may be an ecm issue. The battery is fine. The engine cranks but won't catch. Any advice would be great.
