The Mazda 626 did not see any changes for the 1991 model year.
The 1991 Mazda 626 came in a number of trims, including the base DX sedan, the midrange LX sedan and hatchback, the high-end LE, and the sporty GT touring hatchback. The DX and LX models shared a 2.2-liter, 110 horsepower four-cylinder engine. The GT had a 2.2-liter 145 horsepower four-cylinder. Fuel economy was 24/31 for the smaller engines and 21/28 for the GT.
Most 1991 626 owners like their cars because they are inexpensive to own and operate, easy to repair, and extremely reliable. Some owners complain that the DX and LX models don't have enough power and that the interior feels a little cheap. Customization enthusiasts like this model because they are very easy to modify and many aftermarket parts are available.

lowered ride gave it a good street performance
a lot of space in it
nice stock audio
good daily performance
had no problems with it
miss it a lot. maybe one day I'll have one again :/
But then, with Turbo engine :D

this was my very first car that was passed down to me from my parents, it was a five speed manual and was a little shaky of a car it did get great gas mileage because of the five speed but it was difficult for me to drive this car because i did not know how to drive 5 speed very wellOct 04, 2009

Solid japan car , well built with good design. 2.0 engine gives good acceleration , very good handling mayby brakes should be better. she don't need any repairs, and she use low amount of gas, so is quite cheep to own. low cost great fun of driving and no worres.i recommend this car Aug 07, 2008

The car is an avarage car that has a bit of pep. Coming from me (15 yo student) the car seems to have good build as well as good gas milage for a 4 banger. The car its self is strudy and has a good engine but the tranny's are known to give way, mine fortunatley hasnt. As for as style and quality its alrite, would mind a newer car that is better looking but hey, its my dads so i dont really care.
The car has been good, paint is also very good for a 91 either way its the car ive learned to drive in so pretty much its been good to me and has not caused any problems (other than a radiator replacement i did with my dad) Jun 24, 2008

Does not matter, car sucks if I'm honest. This good looking (was) but it's not that fast that it seems. 2-litre 16valve engine is kinda slow if you don't turbo in it. And if you are tall person you just don't have head room.

Car runs excellent with very minimal maintenance. I once had an 89 Ford proble with the same Mazda engine in it and had the same wonderful experience. The styling of the car is dated, but hey it's 16 years old. It's decent on gas after all this time, handles and accellerates well, and I think I have spent maybe $150 in three years in addition to the $500 to purchase it. I need help! I have a 1991 Mazda 626
I need help! I have a 1991 Mazda 626 It has a high idle when it gets warmed up. It runs perfect until then. You can smell gas. But it runs good on the highway. I took it for an emission Test and it failed. They said the fuel/air mixture was to rich and it was not burning off all of the gas. I changed the 02 sensor. The Mass Air Meter/Sensor, the temperature sensor(by the thermostat) And I changed the idle control sensor. It seems to have more power when it is cold but when it heats up it is idling high(2000-2500). It gets sluggish and loses power. Does anyone know what this could be or should I call the junk yard to come get it?
