1999 Mazda 626 Preview summaryImage

The 1999 Mazda 626 saw some changes in its lineup, including the discontinuation of the base DX and the availability of a four-cylinder version of the high-end model. All models saw some new standard features, including keyless entry, variable intermittent wipers, a power antenna, and a manual driver's seat height adjustment.

The 1999 Mazda 626 was available in four times: the LX, the LX V6, the ES, and the ES V6. The LX was the midrange model. Upgrading to the ES gets a power moon roof, leather interior, and a six-way power driver's seat. The base engine was a 2.0-liter, 130 horsepower four cylinder, and the V6 had 2.5 liters and 170 horsepower. Fuel economy is 22/28 for the four cylinder and 20/26 for the V6.

Drivers like a lot of things about the 1999 626, including a comfortable interior, excellent handling, stylish looks, good gas mileage. Those who drive the four-cylinder wish for a bit more power, and though it seats five, drivers say that only four adults can fit comfortably.

it has needed a few repairs, a new o2 sensor, needs a an exhaust pipe weld , a few rust spots the kinda came out of nowhere, ive had to replace the air intake boot....which was a pain in my a**! and it does burn oil like its its job! i love the gas mileage now that the o2 sensor is in, to a full tank i get a little over 400 miles, acceleration isnt top of the line but it works, i cant say much about thge brakies, i need new ones, but it does brake very well, no pull or shaking. it handles very well too, the interior is nice, the front buckets arent to comfy for long (8hr) road trips but then again what would be comfy for 8hours straight? i love my little car, it does have it downfalls but the good outweigh the bad....if you find one of these cars for sale buy it!Sep 28, 2011

It is very comfortable, especially for a cheap sedan. It gets pretty good milage. Has stayed together pretty well, although the paint scratches easily (mine's green). Huge trunk for a midsized car. Could have better breaks. Drivers window stopped working.Aug 11, 2009

Acceleration-not bad, could be better. Everything else great. Very fun to drive in and around town. Gas mileage was about 23-25 mpg. Easy to maintain. Interior was smoked in before we got it. But we were able to get rid of that smell.Aug 04, 2009
