Which Volkswagen Beetle trim should I buy?
The 2018 Volkswagen Beetle offers these trims:
- S: The entry trim brings LED running lights, heated mirrors, a 5-inch touchscreen, a reversing camera, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, making it the value-focused starting point.
- Coast: This special edition adds a sunroof, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, houndstooth cloth upholstery, a surfboard-style dash pad, and a unique Deep Sea Teal paint option; it stands out as the best-value special edition.
- SE: This trim adds a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and VW Car-Net Security and Service.
- Dune: The Dune adds unique paint and graphics, a larger rear spoiler, 18-inch wheels, an extra half-inch of ground clearance, a wider stance, unique sport seats, and leather.
What Volkswagen Beetle do most buyers choose?
The Volkswagen Beetle years with the most listings are 2014, 2015, and 2018.

| 2015 | 367 | 29.4% |
| 2018 | 342 | 31.6% |
| 2017 | 288 | 32.3% |
| 2016 | 288 | 30.2% |

What is the Volkswagen Beetle's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | $19,981 | +1.64% |

| 2019 | $25,714 | +5.94% |

Why it stands out
The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle stands out for its retro styling and the flexibility of its trim range, which lets buyers tailor the car to their needs without paying for features they do not want. It is also a car with personality: the summary notes that this year’s Beetle Convertible TDI keeps the familiar look while losing some of the cute, giving it a slightly more guy-friendly character than in years past.
It does not give up on driving appeal, either. The 2015 Beetle offers three engine choices, including a new, more powerful TDI clean diesel that also improves fuel economy. That combination of style, choice, and efficiency makes it appealing to shoppers who want something distinctive rather than purely practical, though it is not a bargain no matter which trim you choose.
