Why it stands out
The Subaru Legacy stands out in the midsize sedan market as the only vehicle in its class to offer standard all-wheel drive (AWD), catering to customers who prioritize traction and stability. With a strong focus on safety, it boasts one of the highest safety ratings available and features advanced driver-assist technology through its EyeSight system, making it an appealing choice for families. Additionally, the Legacy's history is noteworthy; it was not only the first Subaru built in America but also pioneered several industry firsts, including standard AWD across all models, underscoring its innovative legacy.
Other model years to consider
The Subaru Legacy model years 2015, 2016, and 2017 offer solid value due to their affordability and high user ratings. With average prices significantly lower than newer models—ranging from approximately $10,323 to $12,814—and consistent user ratings of 4.6 to 5 out of 5, these vehicles present an excellent balance of quality and cost. Additionally, a substantial percentage of listings for these model years fall into the good or great deal category, ensuring that buyers can find well-maintained options with favorable inventory availability.
Model years to approach with caution
When considering the Subaru Legacy model years, several financial and quality metrics come into play. The 2020 model stands out as the most suitable option, featuring a competitive average price of $19,509.40 and a solid user rating of 4/5, though it does face availability constraints with 72% classified as not good/great deals. The 2009 model is also moderately suitable due to its high user rating of 4.6/5; however, it has a notable challenge with 77% not considered good/great deals.
In contrast, older models like the 2006 year may appeal to budget-conscious buyers due to lower prices but encounter significant availability issues, as evidenced by 91% being categorized as not good/great deals despite a favorable user rating of 4.6/5. Overall, while newer models exhibit higher price points and varying levels of deal attractiveness, older options remain available but may pose challenges in terms of value for money and market availability.

The car ride smooth and is quite. It has good visibility and gas mileage.
This car is beautiful inside and out. The safety features are fantastic and the ride is like a luxury car. So happy
Super great car! So roomy and so safe! I love it
This car can take the abuse. Other than oil changes, tires and brakes. I’ve never done maintenance on this car 175k miles and still going. Oil changes every 12k miles. Good gas mileage around 35-40mpg if ya baby it. But this cars caveat is it has 0 Getty up.
