What should I look for when buying a used Hyundai Veloster?

Across all model years, at 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: forward-collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention warning
• Infotainment: 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The Veloster 2.0 with the 7-speed automatic returns 27 mpg city, 34 highway, 30 combined. With the manual transmission, this engine returns 25 mpg city, 33 highway, 28 combined (making it the least efficient configuration). With the 7-speed DCT, fuel economy for the Veloster Turbo is 28 mpg city, 34 highway, 30 combined, and the manual drops mileage just 1 or 2 miles per gallon from that in all three phases. In my week of mixed driving, I found combined fuel economy of 30.2 mpg.

Which Hyundai Veloster trim should I buy?

The 2019 Hyundai Veloster offers these trims:

• 2.0: The entry trim brings the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera, Bluetooth, and a manual transmission; it’s the value pick if you want the Veloster’s style and practicality at the lowest price.
• 2.0 Premium: This trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels, a wide sunroof, heated front seats, automatic temperature control, wireless charging, voice recognition, push-button start, an Infinity sound system, and an 8-inch touchscreen.
• Turbo R-Spec: The most affordable way to get the turbocharged engine, this trim adds unique R-Spec seats, alloy racing pedals, a B&M Racing sport shifter, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer performance tires.
• Turbo: This trim builds on the Premium’s equipment and adds turn signals integrated into the side mirrors, a perforated-leather-wrapped steering wheel, and power lumbar support for the driver’s seat.

What Hyundai Veloster do most buyers choose?

The Hyundai Veloster years with the most listings are 2016, 2015, and 2017.
