About the Hyundai Veloster
About the Hyundai Veloster
The Veloster was one of the funkier models in Hyundai's lineup, offering a sporty appearance and an odd two-and-a-half-door configuration like an old-school extended cab pickup truck. Hyundai discontinued the car after the 2022 model year, but not before it released a surprisingly rowdy Veloster N performance variant, classified as a separate model. While most Veloster configurations look much quicker than they are, the car offers engaging handling and intuitive tech in all its forms.
What are the advantages of the Hyundai Veloster?
-Quirky design and fun to drive -Responsive handling -Hyundai's infotainment is feature-rich and user-friendly
What is the best Hyundai Veloster model year?
The Veloster was on sale for a decade, so there are plenty of years and configurations to choose from. Later models added desirable tech like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Hyundai included a load of advanced safety and driver assistance features for the last few model years. That makes the cars from 2020 and later the best choice.
What are the disadvantages of the Hyundai Veloster?
-Tight back seat -Polarizing styling -Cheap interior feel
Comparison: Is the Hyundai Veloster better than the Volkswagen Golf GTI?
The Volkswagen GTI is a legendary hot hatch, and the most recent generation adds a limited-slip differential and clever software to all but eliminate torque steer, helping the car feels quicker than its 241 horsepower suggests. Though it's more expensive than the Veloster, it handles better and is more comfortable to daily drive. Plus, it has more cargo and rear seat space, making it a better choice for most drivers.
Is the Hyundai Veloster a reliable car?
J.D. Power hasn't rated the last few Veloster model years, but owners report a relatively painless experience. That said, all cars have good and "less good" years, so it's a good idea to research specific configurations if you're considering a purchase. The good news is that Hyundai's powertrain warranty extends to 10 years/100,000 miles, so it's quite easy to find a used model still covered by the factory warranty.
Is the Hyundai Veloster worth the cost?
The Veloster is surprisingly affordable and brings a generous list of standard features, including great safety and infotainment tech. The separate Veloster N performance model is considerably more expensive, but is still a bargain for the power and speed it offers.

(79 reviews)Customers say
The Hyundai Veloster has generally received favorable feedback from owners across all model years, who appreciate its sporty design, fun driving experience, and impressive fuel economy. Many drivers enjoy the unique third door for rear seat access, which adds convenience and practicality to its sporty appeal. However, some have noted drawbacks, such as a low and bumpy ride in certain models, as well as a lack of power in the base configurations. Overall, the Veloster is seen as a stylish and enjoyable car that's great for both everyday use and weekend fun.

What people say
Was fully loaded, lots of gadgets and conveniences. Easy and fun to drive.
Very fun car with sporty looks and good features. It’s not near as fast as it looks but that’s ok with me
Great sports car for cheap. Love this model as it’s a 6 speed manual
I really like the car, a turbo engine that has power. Plenty of leg room and easy access to all your functions. The only thing I dont like is that it rides to low to the ground.
I love everything about this car! It is sporty, compact and still roomy inside. The 3rd door is a great idea for it so rear passengers can get in and out without having to lift the seats in the front forward.
