Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: SmartSense, Hyundai’s collection of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS)
• Infotainment: a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The Sonata Hybrid sedan offers a similarly adequate 192-hp drivetrain, which benefits from immediate electric motor torque when accelerating from a standstill and can return an EPA-estimated 47 mpg in combined driving.

Which Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata offers these trims:

• SE: The entry trim starts with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluelink+ connected services.
• SEL: This trim adds the 12.3-inch touchscreen setup with the same standard connectivity and connected-services features, making it a strong value-oriented choice.
• SEL Convenience: This trim adds a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel, navigation, a dynamic voice recognition system, wireless smartphone charging, and digital key technology, making it the best-value trim.
• N Line: This trim adds the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a dual-clutch automatic transmission, 19-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, rack-mounted electric steering, a quad-outlet exhaust system, Hyundai Pay tech, and a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system.

What Hyundai Sonata do most buyers choose?

The Hyundai Sonata years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choices, which makes it easier to compare trims, mileage, and condition. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so you can usually find a broader mix of prices and deal quality.

What is the Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

Most Sonata model years are down year over year, which can work in your favor if you’re shopping used. The biggest drops are concentrated in several newer and mid-cycle years, while a few years are changing more slowly and therefore appear to be holding value better.

The 2023, 2017, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Hyundai Sonata now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −7.65% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −9.46%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 34.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33.9%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $21,811. The Hyundai Sonata offers a roomy cabin and trunk, which helps make it an easy sedan to live with.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The Sonata’s base 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is unremarkable, although it does offer all-wheel drive (AWD) as an option for SEL models – all other Sonata and Sonata Hybrids have front-wheel drive (FWD).
• Tech: All models have a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and, starting with the Sonata SEL Convenience, there's also a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel.
• Safety: Every 2025 Sonata has standard SmartSense, Hyundai’s collection of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS).
• Starting price: Across the entire lineup, pricing ranges from $28,145 to $38,945, including the $1,245 destination charge.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
