Used Ford Granada for Sale near Aurora, IL
4 Overall rating
(47 reviews)Customers say
The Ford Granada is appreciated by many owners for its comfort, spacious interior, and classic appeal, especially with its V6 engine which enhances the driving experience. Many drivers enjoyed the performance, noting that while it has decent power, it can be slower than expected at times. Common critiques include fuel economy concerns as it tends to be a gas guzzler, and some mention issues with build quality. Overall, the Granada provides a nostalgic experience with its traditional styling, though it may not be the most economical choice for everyday use.

For an old bus they go well. 0-60mph, don't expect to break any records but from 50 - 70mph and beyond, it has plenty of pull and keeps up with the motorway traffic. Anyone who says they are under powered obviously had a bad experience, and has forgotten they are a 1970's design so is 30+ years old in it's technology. There are plenty of bad ones out there though. But a well looked after one will have plenty of torque. Can be very tail happy in the wet but with the classic 80's Ford styling, it's a small price to pay. The Granada is a much over looked classic so don't expect to see much of them mentioned in a classic car magazine, but there are plenty of online clubs such as GSO and FGCUK.
I always wanted to have a Granada, as this was the last American-style Euro-Ford in history and I absolutely like the boxy styling. Found a totally rust-free unit, which is half a needle in 50 haystacks! A beautiful cruiser in almost perfect condition - but the least joy of driving you could ever imagine! I strongly suppose this was my last Granada as well! Sold it to a collector after a 3/4 year of driving, just because it never felt like "my" car. I always felt like driving a car that was borrowed from a friend...
I had a 1977 Ford Granada 2 Dr with a 302V8 and factory 4 speed. Forth gear was over drive. When I brought the car it had slightly over size tires on it and it handled exceptionally well. My car had a large rear end which was very heavy and it went fantastic in the snow. The rear main seal went and I had to keep on replacing clutches until I finally replaced the seal. Forth gear (over drive) and third gear are too close in ratio. The car had plenty of power in first and second, only fair in third and not too good in over drive. Ford had a lot of trouble with their valve seals in the seventies and my Granada was no exception. The seals turn rock hard, break up and clog the oil pump screen which staves the engine for oil. If the pass kicks in then in a piece of valve seal may then get sucked into the oil pump. The chip will then break the pump and twist off the shaft the drives the distributor. I suggest that anyone with a Ford engine in the seventies have their valve seals replaced if they are original. My car was rust proofed and I thought that was a good thing, but as it turned out the rust proofing material ruined car. The material let go from the body partially and water got in between the rust proof material and the body itself. You couldn't tell what was going on under the rust proof coating and by the time I realized what was going on the body was too far gone to save. I've heard some people knock the Granada, but I certainly liked my Granada and I enjoyed driving it. I once got into an accident in a snow storm while crossing over high way bridge that suddenly froze over. Although the car received quite a bit of damage it stood up quite well considering I took on a tractor trailer and a guard rail.
