Customer summary
Overall, the Buick Encore has won over many owners with its stylish design, comfortable and spacious interior, and impressive fuel efficiency. While many appreciate its features and smooth ride, some drivers have expressed disappointment with its power, particularly for highway driving, and a few wished for additional amenities. Common themes include the vehicle's practicality as a smaller SUV and good value for money, but concerns about missing features and performance persist.

Customers say
Overall, the Buick Encore has won over many owners with its stylish design, comfortable and spacious interior, and impressive fuel efficiency. While many appreciate its features and smooth ride, some drivers have expressed disappointment with its power, particularly for highway driving, and a few wished for additional amenities. Common themes include the vehicle's practicality as a smaller SUV and good value for money, but concerns about missing features and performance persist.

The car was in good shape from looks and seemed to run okay, but has the check engine light on. The sales rep would not hook it up to the code reader unless I confirmed I wanted to buy it. I would not buy a car for my 16 year old with a check engine light on without knowing what or how much would need to be spent to fix it. It could have been something simple, but could have been something expensive too.

I was completely shocked by how roomy the driver seat was. Im 65 300# and have more than enough leg room, the driver seat is very comfortable. I love the android auto/ Bluetooth to play music from my phone., plus I can do everything hands free by saying Hey Google. Surprisingly great gas mileage for an AWD.

Overview
About the Buick Encore
The Encore was one of the first entries in the modern subcompact crossover segment, arriving for the 2013 model year. Sharing a platform with the first-generation Chevrolet Trax, the Encore received steady updates, but not a full redesign, throughout its production run, which ended with the 2022 model year. The Encore GX, a separate model sharing the Encore name, has essentially replaced it in Buick’s lineup.
What are the advantages of the Buick Encore?
- Comfortable
- Fuel-efficient
What is the best Buick Encore model year?
Buick gave the Encore a more powerful engine for the 2016 model year, and updated the infotainment system for 2017, so later models are more desirable.
What are the disadvantages of the Buick Encore?
- Fairly pedestrian performance
- Cramped back seat
Comparison: Is the Buick Encore better than the Honda CR-V?
The Encore is a size below the Honda CR-V, but from an ostensibly more premium brand. However, you still get more car for your money with the Honda.
Is the Buick Encore a reliable car?
In its final model year, the Encore received a solid customer satisfaction score of 84 points (out of 100), with 88 points in the quality and reliability evaluation.
Is the Buick Encore worth the cost?
The Encore is a great choice for buyers who want a small car that isn’t too basic. However, buyers prioritizing interior space should look at one of the larger crossovers from a mainstream brand, such as the CR-V. And those simply seeking the cheapest option should consider the Encore’s Chevy Trax sibling.
