New & Used 2026 Toyota Sequoia for Sale nearChicago, IL

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia earns a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

It fits you best if you want a full-size, body-on-frame SUV with real towing ability, three-row seating for up to eight, and a more premium feel than a basic workhorse. Toyota’s hybrid setup and standard safety tech broaden its everyday appeal, and the lineup spans utility-focused and upscale trims.

The trade-offs are clear: the hybrid system only delivers modest efficiency gains, cargo space is compromised by battery packaging, and the truck-based chassis can make the Sequoia feel cumbersome. Even so, it remains a compelling choice if you need capability first and want a wide trim spread to match your priorities.

Good and great deals account for 36.6% of listings, which gives you a decent amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia is built around a truck-based platform and a hybrid powertrain that Toyota positions for towing, durability, and family hauling. Its performance notes point to strong acceleration, a V8-like feel, and a 10-speed automatic that helps the powertrain work smoothly in daily driving.

Toyota also includes standard safety and convenience equipment that supports low-stress ownership, and the hybrid system is described as more efficient than gas-powered rivals. The Sequoia’s long-term ownership risk for used buyers is mostly tied to its size, packaging compromises, and the fact that its efficiency gains are modest rather than transformative.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report, verify service records, and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for towing. Pay close attention to cargo-area condition, third-row wear, and any signs that the truck has seen hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR5 comes with cloth upholstery, while the other trims have real leather, and the Platinum and Capstone add contrast stitching. The TRD Pro also stands apart with a more utilitarian cabin and off-road-focused hardware.
• Powertrain: A twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 hybrid makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, and the 10-speed automatic helps it feel strong from a stop and during passing. It can tow up to 9,520 pounds.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system are also standard, and no safety options are offered beyond that equipment.
• Infotainment: You get a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, with a 14-inch touchscreen available on higher trims or as an option on the base SR5. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also supports over-the-air-style connected services through Toyota’s app-based features.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is EPA rated at up to 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive, or 19/22/20 mpg with 4WD.

Which 2026 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition, and Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Sequoia’s core hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and basic cloth upholstery. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point and plan to add only the options you really need.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves you into a more polished setup without jumping all the way to the luxury end of the lineup. It’s the trim to focus on if you want a balanced mix of comfort and equipment.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel, including real leather and contrast stitching, while staying below the top luxury trims.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice. It adds all-terrain tires, an off-road-tuned suspension, a front grille light bar, an aluminum skid plate, and all-weather floor mats.
• 1794 Edition: This is the style-and-luxury pick with a more distinctive upscale personality. It suits you if you want the Sequoia’s capability wrapped in a more premium presentation.
• Capstone: This is the top luxury trim, with body-colored wheel flares and the most upscale presentation in the lineup.

Toyota’s safety package is standard across the lineup, and no safety options are offered beyond that equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Toyota Sequoia?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have enough inventory to shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia scored a top Good in the IIHS small overlap and updated side crash tests, and a Marginal score in the updated moderate front overlap test. Its available headlights split their scores between the worst Poor score and a top Good score, and its front crash prevention system gets a Good rating for pedestrian avoidance but only a Marginal vehicle-to-vehicle rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system are also standard.

The main caveat is that Toyota does not offer a hands-free highway driving system, and the IIHS results show mixed performance rather than a clean sweep.

Should I buy a 2026 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It combines strong towing ability with standard safety tech and a wide trim spread.

Consider the 2025 if:

• The 2025 adds the 1794 Edition and emphasizes the same hybrid powertrain and family-hauling mission.

The bottom line: Choose the 2026 if you want the current-year Sequoia with strong market availability and a broad mix of trims. If you’re shopping mainly on price, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers the same core formula and may be the easier value play.
