Used 2023 Toyota Sequoia for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2023 Toyota Sequoia cost?

Prices have softened 7.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 952 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

It’s a mixed but appealing choice if you want a modern full-size SUV with strong capability and standard tech, even though its packaging creates real space compromises. The user rating is 3.8/5, and the expert rating is 6.7/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The Sequoia’s redesign brings a powerful hybrid powertrain, easy-to-use technology, and standard advanced safety features. The trade-offs are just as clear: poor ride quality, a cramped third row, and limited cargo space for the class. That makes it a better fit if you value towing, tech, and safety more than maximum passenger and luggage room.

33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s meaningful room to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is built around a redesigned hybrid setup and a standard suite of advanced safety and tech features, which gives it a modern foundation for daily use. Its powertrain is described as strong, with robust output and improved efficiency over the previous generation.

The performance notes point to a twin-turbo V6 hybrid system that delivers substantial power and torque, and the cost-effectiveness notes say the hybrid powertrain promises impressive fuel economy. The same materials also suggest the Sequoia’s long-term appeal is tied to its towing and off-road capability more than broad family-hauler comfort.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the same packaging compromises that affect comfort and cargo space may matter even more as mileage and wear add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for towing. Pay close attention to ride quality, interior wear, and whether the third row and cargo area meet your needs in person.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from SR5 to Capstone, with the upscale Capstone adding a more luxurious interior treatment and a 14-inch infotainment screen. The base SR5 is less lavish and gets a smaller screen, so feature gaps are most noticeable there.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 hybrid setup with a 10-speed automatic, and the system is tuned for strong output and better efficiency than the previous generation.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and road sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking are also standard.
• Infotainment: The base SR5 gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while other versions use a 14-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system supports over-the-air connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid powertrain is EPA-rated at 20 mpg with 4WD and 22 mpg with RWD.

Which 2023 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it makes the Sequoia’s core strengths accessible without pushing you into the highest prices. It’s the trim to consider if you want the Sequoia’s powertrain and standard safety tech at the lowest cost.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment without jumping all the way to the luxury-focused upper end of the lineup. It’s the smart middle ground if you want a better-equipped Sequoia without overbuying.
• Platinum: This trim is the better choice if you want more premium features and the larger infotainment setup while staying below the top luxury trim.
• TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most off-road-focused version. The content specifically points to added capability, and it’s the trim to target if rough-road use matters most.
• Capstone: This is the luxury pick, with the most upscale interior presentation and the biggest tech presence. It suits you best if you want the most premium Sequoia experience.

Every driver-assistance feature is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up trims for safety equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find meaningful inventory.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 952 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,334, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $60,334 sits slightly below last year's $65,161.

That price movement suggests the Sequoia has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

For a future seller, the current trend means resale value may remain under pressure unless demand strengthens or inventory tightens. A clean, well-kept example with desirable equipment should still hold up better than a rough one, especially if it has the right trim and condition.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia safe?

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every driver-assistance feature available for the 2023 Toyota Sequoia is standard equipment, and Toyota bundles the main systems into Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. That suite includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition.

It also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect emergency assistance and automatic collision notification, plus front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking. The review notes that the lane-departure warning can be irritating, but the rest of the driver aids are generally well integrated.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.41% compared with last year.
• It’s the redesigned year with a stronger hybrid powertrain and modern tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It offers a more traditional, truck-like full-size SUV feel with more cargo space.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $65,011, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $60,334 average.
• It adds the same hybrid formula with improved fuel economy and more premium-feeling updates.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Sequoia and can live with the tighter interior packaging, the 2023 is the sweet spot. If your priority is lower purchase price and a more traditional full-size SUV feel, the 2022 is worth a look. If you want the newer-year premium and don’t mind paying more, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
