CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Toyota Sequoia
overall

Summary
With 1,215 currently listed for sale and an average price of $71,609.00, 32.0% of 2025 Toyota Sequoias for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Toyota Sequoia 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 5.5 / 10.
96.2% of 2025 Sequoia models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia stands out as Toyota’s full-size SUV, and it shares its platform with the Tundra pickup truck while using the same i-Force Max hybrid powertrain. It also brings a new reason to take notice in the form of the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury model that adds some extra appeal to the lineup. On top of that, the Sequoia can seat up to eight people, which keeps it squarely in the family-hauling full-size SUV mission.
Its strengths are straightforward: the Sequoia offers a stylish design, a powerful engine, and easy-to-use technology. It can hold up to 86.9 cubic feet of cargo, carry up to 1,730 pounds of payload, and tow up to 9,520 pounds of trailer, so it has the numbers buyers expect from a large SUV. Even so, it is not without compromises, since its poor fuel economy, cramped third row, and limited cargo space are notable drawbacks.

I love everything about the Sequoia except for the cargo space.

Reviewed a 2025 Toyota TRD Pro 4WD on Aug 7, 2025
I think this car is a good value. I think the gas mileage really isn't any better than my 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro V8 that I traded in for the Sequoia. However the features of the 2025 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro cannot be beat. I don't think Toyota missed a detail on this beauty. The vehicle has the smoothest ride of any vehicle I have ever been in. This SUV turns on a dime. I would compare it closest to the GMC Yukon Denali, except the Sequoia is cooler not just for it's rugged exterior but the red camo leather interior that is a perfect compliment to the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro unique character and customer base.

With 1,243 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare across trims and conditions. If you find a listing below $71,514.18, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia a good car?
Yes — 4.5/5 from users, and 5.5/10 from expert testing. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.
The Sequoia’s appeal is clear if you want a full-size SUV that can seat up to eight people, tow heavily, and still bring a stylish design and easy-to-use technology. It shares its platform with the Tundra pickup and uses the same i-Force Max hybrid powertrain, so you get truck-based capability in a family-hauling package.
The trade-offs are just as clear: poor fuel economy, a cramped third row, and limited cargo space. That means it fits you best if your priorities lean toward towing, passenger capacity, and a more upscale presentation rather than maximum efficiency or interior room.
With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is enough market opportunity to shop selectively.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Sequoia’s reliability case is helped by Toyota’s reputation for durable truck-based hardware, and the expert evaluation describes it as a full-size SUV built around serious capability. Its hybrid powertrain delivers strong output, and the overall package is aimed at buyers who want a tough, long-haul family vehicle.
The performance notes also point to a muscular drivetrain that feels quick and confident, even if it is not tuned for efficiency. That said, the packaging compromises and complex hybrid setup mean you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle has been used, especially if you plan to keep it for the long term.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a large SUV that may have been used for towing or family hauling. Focus on tire wear, brake condition, interior wear in the third row, and signs that the vehicle has been worked hard. If you are shopping a higher-trim example, make sure the equipment you expect is actually present and functioning.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and the 1794 Edition. The 1794 Edition adds machined-finish 20-inch wheels, more exterior chrome, Saddle Tan leather upholstery, open pore American walnut wood trim, and all-weather floor mats over the Platinum, while the cabin still shows plenty of typical Toyota-grade plastic underneath. That makes it the most distinctive choice if you want the richest look and feel, but the base trims will feel less upscale.
- Powertrain: The Sequoia uses an i-Force Max hybrid setup with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6, an electric motor, a 1.87-kilowatt-hour nickel metal hydride battery pack, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, so it is built for strong acceleration and towing rather than fuel savings.
- Safety package: Every Sequoia has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard, so you do not need to move up the lineup for a full core safety suite.
- Infotainment: The test vehicle had a 14-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system supports connected services, cloud-based navigation, remote start, and a wireless charging pad.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation says the EPA expects 20 mpg in combined driving for a 4WD Sequoia, but the test vehicle averaged 16.2 mpg on the evaluation loop. That gap is worth keeping in mind if you drive a lot.
Which 2025 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and 1794 Edition.
Here's the short version:
- SR5: This is the entry point if you want the Sequoia’s core towing, seating, and hybrid capability without paying for luxury extras. It makes sense if you care more about function than cabin polish.
- Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It should give you more everyday comfort and convenience than SR5 without pushing you into the pricier luxury-focused models.
- Platinum: This is the step up if you want a more premium-feeling Sequoia before the specialty trims. It also serves as the foundation for the 1794 Edition, which adds the most distinctive interior treatment in the lineup.
- TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most rugged-looking Sequoia in the lineup and are drawn to the off-road-oriented character described in the test vehicle.
- Capstone: This is the top-end luxury choice if you want the most upscale positioning in the standard lineup.
- 1794 Edition: This is the standout style pick and the best-value luxury trim if you want the richest cabin presentation. It adds the Texas-themed design details, leather, wood trim, and extra chrome, though the underlying cabin still shows some hard-plastic reality.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with patience and still find opportunities.
- Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,243 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.38% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 96.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $71,514.18, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?
The current average of $71,511 sits slightly below last year's $77,206.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy with less risk of immediate overpayment. For a future seller, the softer trend means resale upside may be more limited unless your vehicle is especially clean, well equipped, or priced competitively.
The Sequoia still has appeal because it offers strong towing ability and a distinctive full-size SUV identity. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia safe?
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Every 2025 Sequoia has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
The system is comprehensive, but the lane-assist features can be intrusive, with false lane departure warnings and overly obvious lane keep assist behavior. That means you get a strong standard safety package, but you may want to test those systems on your own drive to see whether their behavior suits you.
Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.38% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 1794 Edition adds a Texas-themed luxury model with distinctive interior materials and extra visual appeal.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $66,795, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $71,511 average.
- It offers a standard hybrid powertrain with improved fuel economy and strong towing and hauling ability.
The bottom line: If you want the freshest used Sequoia shopping pool and the 1794 Edition’s added appeal, the 2025 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you can live with the older model year’s strengths, the 2024 is the more budget-friendly path.
