How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 9.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 541 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The S-Class is positioned as a full-size luxury sedan for you if you want comfort, performance, technology, and refinement in one package. It also brings a premium interior, multiple powertrain choices, and a strong sense of occasion, while the main trade-offs are limited cargo space and frustrating capacitive touch controls.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 30.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The S-Class is described as a polished flagship that emphasizes comfort, refinement, and high-end materials, and its expert evaluation highlights a smooth, quiet driving experience with strong execution across the cabin and chassis. The performance write-up also notes that the powertrains are harmoniously paired and that power delivery is buttery smooth and incredibly linear.

For maintenance, the plug-in hybrid’s efficiency and performance make it especially appealing if you have easy access to charging. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic competence and more about the complexity and cost that can come with a highly equipped luxury sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury sedan with advanced electronics and multiple powertrain choices. Focus on overall condition, because the cabin materials, controls, and available equipment are a big part of the ownership experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin emphasizes premium materials, with supple leather, lacquered wood surfaces, natural-grain walnut, and a carbon-fiber-like dot pattern available. The base setup already feels upscale, but the available rear-seat and luxury upgrades can make a meaningful difference if you care about passenger comfort.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, and plug-in hybrid variants that add electric motors. The six-cylinder is smooth and quick, the V8 adds more power, and the plug-in hybrid brings strong output plus electric-only driving range.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, native navigation with augmented reality video overlays, voice recognition, and a Burmester surround-sound system. A digital key feature is also standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is the efficiency leader with 48 miles of electric range and 23 mpg in combined driving once the battery is depleted. The base six-cylinder returns 24 mpg combined, while the V8 is rated at 20 mpg.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: S 500, S 580, S 580e, AMG S 63 E Performance.

Here's the short version:

• S 500: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core S-Class experience with the turbocharged six-cylinder, standard all-wheel drive, and the full suite of luxury and tech features. It’s the best-value choice if you want the S-Class badge and comfort without paying for extra power you may not need.
• S 580: This trim adds the twin-turbo V8, which brings more performance and a stronger sense of effortless speed. Choose it if you want the most traditional big-luxury-sedan feel and are willing to pay for the upgrade.
• S 580e: This plug-in hybrid pairs the six-cylinder with an electric motor and delivers the best efficiency in the lineup, along with strong output and useful electric range. It’s the smart pick if you can charge at home and want a balance of performance and lower fuel use.
• AMG S 63 E Performance: This is the performance flagship, combining a V8 with an electric motor for the highest output and the quickest acceleration. It suits you if outright speed matters most and budget is secondary.

The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat amenities and extra airbags, so it’s worth considering if you want the most complete luxury and safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 541 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $122,660, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $122,859 sits slightly below last year's $135,094.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you more negotiating room now, but it also means a future seller may face some depreciation pressure if pricing stays soft. The S-Class still benefits from strong desirability as a flagship luxury sedan, which can help support demand when you eventually sell. Its broad appeal, premium image, and high owner satisfaction should help it remain attractive to used buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class does not have published crash test results from IIHS or NHTSA for this generation.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

The expert evaluation also notes that these systems worked flawlessly in testing, and the adaptive cruise control is especially strong thanks to smooth transitions between acceleration and braking. The main caveat is that some of the most advanced safety equipment is tied to higher trims or packages.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model adds newly standard digital key functionality and a center airbag, plus wider availability of the AMG Line trim package.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version with small but meaningful updates and a softer used-car market, the 2025 is the right path. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may deliver much of the same flagship experience for less money.
