Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a flagship luxury sedan that leans hard into technology, craftsmanship, and comfort. It also brings a second-generation MBUX infotainment interface, available support for up to five screens, a new 3D driver display system, rear-axle steering, and a rear airbag system designed to protect rear passengers.

That combination makes it especially appealing if you want a deeply luxurious sedan with advanced features and serious performance options. The tradeoff is cost: it is the most expensive vehicle in its class, and it remains costly to fuel, maintain, and insure.

With 34.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively, but this is still a premium market.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is built around comfort, technology, performance, and refinement, and it continues to offer multiple powertrain choices, including mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid setups. It also adds advanced features such as rear-axle steering and a rear airbag system, reinforcing its role as a highly engineered flagship sedan.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a car this complex can be expensive to keep in top condition over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the car’s equipment and service records match the listing. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the electronics, suspension, and any hybrid-related components, since this is a highly complex luxury sedan. Focus on overall condition and maintenance quality, because the ownership experience depends heavily on how well the car has been cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and compare listings without rushing.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 259 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 97.3% of listings are accident-free.

Should I buy a 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It keeps the flagship formula current with only small changes.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of the S-Class with strong market availability and excellent clean-inventory levels, the 2026 is the primary path to consider. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2025 is worth a look because it preserves the core S-Class experience while potentially offering a lower entry point.
