How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 10.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 505 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 7.33/10 expert rating point to a strong overall showing. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The 2025 S-Class backs up that score with the kind of qualities you expect from a flagship luxury sedan: a comfortable ride, premium interior materials, and multiple powertrain options. It also gets small but useful updates for 2025, including newly standard digital key functionality and a center airbag, plus wider availability of the AMG Line trim package.

The trade-offs are clear, though: cargo space is limited and the capacitive touch controls can be frustrating to use. If you want a deeply polished, highly configurable luxury sedan and can live with those compromises, this model year fits that brief well.

32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The S-Class is positioned as a flagship luxury sedan with a strong emphasis on comfort, refinement, and advanced engineering. Its powertrain lineup is broad, and the available plug-in hybrid setup adds efficiency without giving up the smooth, quiet character you want in this class. The expert evaluation also notes that the systems operated flawlessly during testing, with no false alarms or odd glitches.

The efficiency-focused plug-in hybrid is especially appealing if you can charge at home or work, and the model’s smooth power delivery and well-controlled ride support the case for durable everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about the complexity and cost that can come with a highly optioned flagship sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, especially if it has been heavily optioned or driven as a long-distance luxury cruiser. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing because this is a complex flagship with advanced electronics, multiple powertrain choices, and a lot of comfort and convenience equipment. Focus on overall condition, especially the cabin, infotainment controls, and any signs that expensive features may not be working as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is richly finished across the lineup, but the base setup still leaves some rear-seat amenities and upgraded luxury touches for higher trims. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat amenities like an infotainment-system tablet, voice controls, a wireless charging pad, and an entertainment system with two 11.6-inch displays.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, and plug-in hybrid versions that add electric motors and battery packs. The plug-in hybrid is the efficiency leader, while the AMG S 63 E Performance is the performance standout.
• Safety package: Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim augments that list with rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a native navigation system with augmented reality video overlays, voice recognition, and a Burmester surround-sound system. A digital key feature also turns your smartphone into a key fob.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 48 miles of electric range and 23 mpg in combined driving once the battery is depleted. The S 500 comes in at 24 mpg combined, while the V8-powered S 580 is rated at 20 mpg.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: S 500, S 580, S 580e, AMG S 63 E Performance.

Here's the short version:

• S 500: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core S-Class experience with the turbocharged inline-six, standard all-wheel drive, and the full suite of luxury and tech features that define the model. It’s the most sensible choice if you want the S-Class badge and comfort without stretching to the pricier powertrains.
• S 580: Step up here if you want the stronger twin-turbo V8 and the added performance that comes with it. It suits you best if you want more effortless acceleration and don’t mind the lower fuel economy.
• S 580e: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it combines more power than the V8 with the lineup’s best efficiency. If you can charge regularly, it’s the smartest balance of performance and operating cost.
• AMG S 63 E Performance: Choose this if you want the most extreme performance in the lineup. It’s the clear enthusiast pick, with far more power than the other trims and a much more aggressive mission.

The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat amenities and rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 505 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $124,019, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $124,327 sits slightly below last year's $139,078.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make it easier for you to purchase now than it would have been a year ago. For a future seller, the softer pricing means resale values may face some pressure unless the car is especially well equipped, well maintained, and desirable in the used market.

The S-Class still benefits from its flagship status, broad appeal, and strong reputation for comfort and refinement. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA, so there isn’t a published crash-test result to cite for this model year.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

The expert evaluation also notes that these systems worked flawlessly during testing, and the adaptive cruise control was especially impressive for its smooth transitions. For used buyers, the main caveat is that some of the most advanced safety and convenience features are tied to higher trims or option content, so you’ll want to verify exactly what’s installed on the car you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the 2025 model: newly standard digital key functionality and a center airbag, plus wider availability of the AMG Line trim package.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the right pick if you want the latest version of this flagship sedan and you value the small but meaningful updates it received for the year. If your priority is simply getting into an S-Class at the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2025’s softened pricing and strong inventory make it a compelling target for careful shoppers.
