How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 8.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 545 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The 2025 S-Class is built around comfort, performance, technology, and refinement, and it keeps that flagship-luxury mission intact with only small updates for the year. It offers multiple powertrain choices, premium interior materials, and a broad enough appeal that you can tailor it to different tastes if your budget allows.

The main trade-offs are practical ones: it does not offer much cargo space, and the capacitive touch controls can be frustrating.

The market also shows 34.3% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests you have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The S-Class is described as a flagship sedan that emphasizes comfort, technology, and craftsmanship, and the expert review notes that its systems worked flawlessly during testing. Its performance hardware is broad and sophisticated, and the cabin materials and construction are presented as exceptionally polished.

The efficiency-focused plug-in hybrid is also described as a compelling choice for buyers with easy access to charging, which can help reduce day-to-day operating strain. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is still a highly complex luxury sedan, so you should expect maintenance and repair costs to matter more than they would on a simpler car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a model with this much technology and multiple powertrain choices. Focus on the condition of the interior controls, infotainment operation, and any luxury features that may be expensive to repair if they are not working properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin emphasizes premium materials, a striking horizontal dashboard layout, and a traditional full-size luxury-sedan presence, but the digital displays are described as looking somewhat clumsily placed. The base setup does not include the rear-seat amenities that come with the Pinnacle trim, so you should pay close attention to whether the features you want are actually present.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, and plug-in hybrid versions that add electric motors and battery packs. The plug-in hybrid tested here is the efficiency leader, with 48 miles of electric range and 23 mpg in combined driving once the battery is depleted.
• Safety package: Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, native navigation with augmented reality video overlays, voice recognition, and a Burmester surround-sound system. A digital key feature is standard, and the Pinnacle trim adds a rear-seat infotainment tablet, voice controls, a wireless charging pad, and an entertainment system with two 11.6-inch displays.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 48 miles of electric range and 23 mpg combined after the battery is depleted. The base six-cylinder is rated at 24 mpg combined, while the V8 is rated at 20 mpg.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: S 500, S 580, S 580e, AMG S 63 E Performance.

Here's the short version:

• S 500: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core S-Class experience with the turbocharged six-cylinder, standard all-wheel drive, and the full luxury-sedan atmosphere. It makes the most sense if you want the least expensive path into the lineup without giving up the flagship feel.
• S 580: This trim adds the twin-turbo V8 and more power, making it the better choice if you want stronger straight-line performance and are willing to pay more for it.
• S 580e: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it combines the six-cylinder with electric assistance, delivers the strongest efficiency in the lineup, and still feels quick and refined. If you can charge at home or work, this is the most balanced choice.
• AMG S 63 E Performance: This is the performance flagship, pairing a V8 with an electric motor for dramatically higher output and much quicker acceleration. It suits you if outright speed matters more than efficiency or purchase price.

The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat amenities and rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 545 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 95.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $122,563, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $122,563 sits slightly below last year's $134,672.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you more negotiating room today than it did a year ago. For a future seller, that can mean you may not recover as much as you would have when prices were higher, especially if the market continues to normalize.

Even so, the S-Class still has strong appeal as a flagship luxury sedan with broad powertrain choice and high-end cabin execution. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim augments that list with rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

To date, neither NHTSA nor IIHS have published crash test results for this S-Class generation. The adaptive cruise control is described as excellent, with smooth transitions between acceleration and braking.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model adds newly standard digital key functionality and a center airbag, along with additional paint colors and wider availability of the AMG Line trim package.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this flagship sedan and you value the latest small updates, the 2025 is the right path. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still deliver much of the same S-Class experience for less money, especially if you can find a well-kept example with the features you want.
