Overview

The Nissan G-TR commands a certain cachet. The big, heavy, and thundering sports car is nicknamed “Godzilla,” after all. Never mind that the GT-R hasn’t been significantly changed since its 2009 debut. The vehicle still turns heads and commands attention wherever it goes. And this year, it brings something new to the table.
What’s New for the 2024 Nissan GT-R
Thankfully, for 2024, the GT-R lineup does undergo significant spring cleaning, with revised aerodynamics, updated fasciae, new colors, and the return of the T-Spec model. The 2024 Nissan GT-R is offered only in the Japanese and North American markets and will be available in three trims: Premium, Nismo, and T-Spec.
Design
The 2024 GT-R features increased downforce but maintains its 0.26 coefficient of drag. This was achieved thanks to exterior enhancements like redesigned front and rear fascias, upgraded bumper sides, updated grilles, and a new rear wing. On the GT-R Nismo, the front lip, rear diffuser, and canards have been redone. Also, its Nismo-exclusive rear wing design now features swan neck-like supports, a nearly 10-percent increase in surface area, and a new curved style for improved drag.
To finish off its exterior styling, the GT-R T-Spec wears special badging and is offered in two exclusive throwback colors. Millennium Jade is a nod to the rare R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nür, while Midnight Purple is a contemporary take on the famous Midnight Purple III paint of the R34 GT-R V-Spec. The GT-R Nismo gets its own trim-specific paint, too, called Stealth Gray. Also new for 2024 is a Nismo Appearance Package, which includes a red-accented variant of the standard Nismo Rays wheels, a clear coat application for the carbon fiber hood, and a unique engine cover design.
Powertrain
The 2024 GT-R’s super power is produced by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6. Nissan GT-R Premium and T-Spec models have 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque pumping out to the standard all-wheel-drive configuration. The GT-R Nismo is tuned for 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque. Completing the powertrain is a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters provide manual shifting.
Brembo provides braking power for the standard Rays 20-inch wheels and Dunlop summer tires of Premium trims. The GT-R T-Spec borrows its wheel-and-tire set from the Nismo model. This includes larger carbon-ceramic Brembos and a gold-painted version of the GT-R Nismo’s Rays 20-inch forged wheels. The T-Spec also sports Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT600 ultra-high-performance run-flat tires with a Nismo-specific compound.
To fully take advantage of the GT-R’s dynamic handling and responsive steering are three drive modes: Normal, Comfort, and R. And rather than digging through extensive touchscreen menus, control settings for the engine, suspension, and transmission are large, physical buttons and switches that are ergonomically located on the center console.
Interior
The GT-R’s cabin isn’t without some new refinements as well. The standard lightweight seats offer heated settings and feature Nappa leather trim. The GT-R T-Spec receives trim-specific dark Mori Green-colored upholstery, a combination of semi-aniline and suede materials for the front seats, and logos on the console and kickplates. The GT-R Nismo interior is outfitted with Recaro seats featuring suede inserts and red stitching. The Nismo also gets an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with a distinctive red stripe.
Technology
Standard infotainment technology includes a NissanConnect 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, navigation, Bluetooth, an 11-speaker Bose audio system, active noise canceling, HD Radio, and a multitude of SiriusXM features. The center screen also displays performance-specific data pages such as engine fluid temperatures, gear selection, g-forces, turbocharger boost, and a lap time stopwatch.
Pricing
The 2024 Nissan GT-R Premium and GT-R T-Spec will be on sale at select dealerships this spring. GT-R Nismo models will follow suit in the summer. A complete list of features and 2024 GT-R pricing will be released closer to the on-sale date.
