How much does the 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 5.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 987 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class stands out as a flagship luxury sedan that leans hard into technology, craftsmanship, and comfort. Mercedes-Benz gives it the second generation of its MBUX infotainment interface, and buyers can opt for up to five screens on board. The car also features a new 3D driver display system that uses eye tracking to create the illusion of depth, reinforcing the S-Class’s long-running role as the brand’s showcase for advanced features.

For 2024, the S 500 received a horsepower bump to 442, while the AMG S 63 returned to the lineup as a high-performance plug-in hybrid. That version combines a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with an electric motor and a 13.1-kWh battery pack, for a total of 791 horsepower and 1,055 pound-feet of torque. The S-Class also continues to offer rear-axle steering with up to ten degrees of motion, and Mercedes says a new rear airbag system provides airbags in front of the rear passengers for the first time. Those strengths come with the usual S-Class tradeoffs, though: it remains very expensive, and many of its advanced safety and driver-assist systems are still tied to option packages.

The market reflects that premium positioning, with 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class stands out as a flagship luxury sedan that leans hard into technology, craftsmanship, and comfort. Those strengths come with the usual S-Class tradeoffs, though: it remains very expensive, and many of its advanced safety and driver-assist systems are still tied to option packages.

For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about basic capability and more about the cost and complexity of maintaining a highly optioned luxury sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the car’s equipment matches the listing, especially on a model where many advanced features can depend on option packages. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks electronics, suspension behavior, and any signs of uneven wear or prior bodywork. Focus on overall condition and service history, because a luxury sedan like this can be expensive to sort out if previous maintenance was deferred.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This is a selective buyer’s market: there’s enough inventory and enough deal activity to shop carefully, but you still need to be disciplined about condition and pricing.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 987 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $114,248, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $116,794 sits slightly below last year's $123,217.

That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively now, but it also means future resale value may depend heavily on how well you preserve the car’s condition and equipment. Because the S-Class sits in a high-price, high-option segment, well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than neglected or lightly documented ones. If you plan to sell later, keeping service records and avoiding cosmetic wear will matter a lot.

Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.21% compared with last year.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $77,495, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $116,794 average.
• It adds a plug-in hybrid powertrain and strong electric-range appeal.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $125,205, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $116,794 average.
• It adds digital key functionality and a center airbag.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the best fit if you want the newest balance of technology, performance, and softened pricing in this group. If your priority is spending less, the 2023 is the smarter value play; if you want the latest updates and can stretch the budget, the 2025 is the cleaner upgrade path.
