How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 2.12% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 9,016 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The CX-5 is positioned as an SUV for active urban use, and it backs that up with taut dimensions, excellent outward visibility, a comfortable cabin, commendable quality, and impressive safety ratings. It is also genuinely enjoyable to drive, which helps it stand out in the compact SUV class.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is poor in Turbo models, cargo space is limited, and the technology feels outdated. Even so, the overall package remains appealing if you want a polished, premium-feeling compact crossover that still fits everyday use.

With 36.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s appeal comes from steady refinement rather than constant reinvention, and Mazda has continued improving the model over time. The result is a compact crossover that feels well sorted, with a comfortable cabin, strong quality, and a sophisticated driving character.

Its performance tuning also supports confidence behind the wheel: the CX-5 feels composed, quiet on the highway, and stable on twisty roads. Mazda’s approach to the drivetrain and suspension gives it a polished character that should age well for used buyers who value a well-developed vehicle.

If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Turbo versions can be costly to live with if fuel economy matters to you.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a Turbo model. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-5 lineup includes 2.5 S and 2.5 Turbo models, and the base 2.5 S gives you the core CX-5 experience with standard all-wheel drive and the main safety equipment. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience, while the Turbo versions bring more power and premium touches.
• Powertrain: The 2.5 S uses a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while the Turbo models use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four that delivers 256 hp on premium gas or 227 hp on regular gas. The turbo setup is stronger, but it is also the one tied to poorer fuel economy.
• Safety package: Every CX-5 includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, Traffic Jam Assist, and the top Turbo Signature trim gets a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.
• Infotainment: The CX-5 uses a 10.25-inch display with Mazda Connect controls, and several trim levels add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Mazda also offers touchscreen operation for those phone platforms while driving, plus connected services and remote-start capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The Turbo model is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test loop returned 22.9 mpg. If fuel economy matters, the base engine is the better choice.

Which 2024 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 8 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Carbon Edition, Premium, Premium Plus, Carbon Turbo, Premium Turbo, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point to the CX-5 lineup, and it gives you the core formula with standard all-wheel drive and the full suite of driver-assistance features. It makes the most sense if you want the CX-5’s driving feel and safety equipment without paying for extras you may not need.
• Preferred: This trim is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it builds on the base setup without pushing you into the more expensive luxury-leaning versions. It suits you if you want a nicer daily driver while staying mindful of price.
• Carbon Edition: This trim adds a more distinctive look and a more upscale feel, making it a good fit if style matters as much as substance. It is a strong middle-ground choice if you want something more special than the entry trims.
• Premium: This is the trim to consider if you want a more polished cabin and a richer feature set without jumping to the top of the range. It suits buyers who want the CX-5 to feel more premium in everyday use.
• Premium Plus: This is the step for shoppers who want the most comfort and convenience from the 2.5 S lineup. It is the right pick if you want a near-luxury experience without moving to the Turbo models.
• Carbon Turbo: This trim pairs the stronger turbocharged engine with the distinctive Carbon treatment, and it also gets the Bose premium sound system. It is the best choice if you want more power and a more upscale vibe.
• Premium Turbo: This trim is for buyers who want turbo performance with a more refined feature mix than the lower Turbo model. It makes sense if you want stronger acceleration and a more premium daily driving experience.
• Signature: This is the top trim, and it adds the most advanced safety and convenience equipment, including the driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking. Choose it if you want the most complete CX-5 available.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, while the most advanced driver-assistance and parking features are reserved for the Signature trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to find value if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,016 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.12% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 89.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,825, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $26,748 sits slightly above last year's $26,192.

That upward move suggests the CX-5 is holding demand well in the used market. For a future seller, that’s a positive sign because it indicates buyers are still willing to pay for this model year’s mix of style, safety, and driving enjoyment.

The price trend also suggests the CX-5 is not softening dramatically, which can help support stronger trade-in or private-sale outcomes. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and maintain it well, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, except for a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips every CX-5 with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist, while the Signature trim gets a driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.

One caveat is that the CX-5 no longer carries the IIHS Top Safety Pick designation it has earned in the past, even though its latest ratings remain strong.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.12% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends premium feel, strong safety, and enjoyable driving in a refined package.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,420, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $26,748 average.
• It remains appealing for its stylish design and fun-to-drive character.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $27,566, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $26,748 average.
• It emphasizes practicality and sporty appeal in an upscale compact SUV.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the best all-around choice if you want the strongest mix of safety, refinement, and driving enjoyment. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2023 is the smarter value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year alternative.
