Used 2024 Ford Ranger for Sale nearSaint Paul, MN

How much does the 2024 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 7.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,236 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability for shoppers comparing trims and equipment.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Ranger earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

That lines up with the Ranger’s broader appeal as an all-new midsize pickup that brings more power, tech, refinement, space, and choice than before. It stands out for multiple powertrain options, great handling, and a quiet cabin, which makes it a strong fit if you want a truck that feels more polished than a basic workhorse.

The trade-offs are real, though: interior materials feel cheap, the touchscreen response is sluggish, and advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the Ranger’s added capability and modernized feel make it a compelling midsize truck if you want utility without giving up everyday comfort.

Good and great deals percentage: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Ranger’s overall package points to solid day-to-day dependability for used buyers: it offers multiple powertrain choices, a quiet cabin, and a more refined driving experience than the previous version. The expert assessment also highlights smooth acceleration from the standard turbo four-cylinder and strong towing-oriented capability from the optional V6, which suggests the truck is built to handle real use without feeling strained.

The performance notes also describe the base engine as more than sufficient and the V6 as the better choice for constant towing, which helps you match the truck to your needs instead of overworking the drivetrain. If you plan to keep it long term, the biggest ownership risk is that the cabin quality and tech execution may age less gracefully than the mechanical side.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Ranger?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Even with a strong clean-inventory rate, you should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the truck’s equipment matches the trim and package claims. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you’re looking at a higher-mileage example or one that was used for towing, since that’s where wear can show up first. Focus on cabin condition, touchscreen behavior, and signs of hard use, because those are the areas most likely to separate a good truck from a merely average one.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Ranger comes as a crew cab with a five-foot bed, and the base XL is the most stripped-down version. The XLT adds more everyday appeal, while the Lariat brings more upscale tech and convenience, and the Raptor is the most specialized choice. The base trim’s lack of driver assists is the biggest feature gap to watch for.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.3-liter turbo inline-four makes 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet, while the optional 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 makes 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet. The Raptor uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet. The base engine is sufficient, but the V6 is the better fit if you tow regularly.
• Safety package: The XLT and above trims have standard forward and reverse emergency braking, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, front cross-traffic braking, and evasive steering assist. Adaptive cruise control is optional on the XLT and standard on Lariat and Raptor, while the base XL does not come with driver assists.
• Infotainment: A 10-inch portrait touchscreen is standard on the XL, and a 12-inch screen comes on all other trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and the larger display is the better choice if you want easier map viewing and a more modern feel. The menus are slow to load, so test the system before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder with 4WD is rated at 20 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined, while the V6 is rated at 19/23/20. The Raptor is rated at 16/18/17, though hard driving will likely lower that further.

Which 2024 Ford Ranger trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Ranger is offered in 4 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, Raptor.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without driver-assistance features. It gets the standard 10-inch touchscreen, but it is the least equipped trim and the one most likely to feel bare-bones.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the safety equipment that the XL lacks and gives you access to useful packages like FX4. It also pairs well with the available V6 if you want more towing muscle without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want the more upscale cabin and tech upgrades, including the wider instrument panel, push-button start, automatic parking, and trailer-reversing assist. It is the trim that most clearly moves the Ranger toward a more premium everyday truck.
• Raptor: This is the enthusiast choice, with the most serious off-road hardware and the strongest engine. It is the right pick if you want the Ranger’s most capable and most specialized version rather than the best value.

The safety-package gap is most important at the bottom of the lineup: the XL does not get driver assists, while the XLT and above do.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Ranger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,236 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,661, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $38,661 sits slightly below last year's $41,681.

That price movement suggests the Ranger has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. For a seller, the current market shows that buyers are still willing to pay meaningful money for a well-equipped Ranger, but pricing above the market average may take longer to move.

The strongest resale prospects will likely belong to trucks with desirable equipment, clean history, and the right trim balance. If you buy carefully now, you can reduce the chance of taking an outsized hit later when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger safe?

The 2024 Ranger has not been crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and previous model years tested by NHTSA and IIHS are not comparable.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Ranger’s safety equipment is trim-dependent. The base XL does not come with any driver assists, while the XLT and above trims have standard forward and reverse emergency braking, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, front cross-traffic braking, and evasive steering assist. Adaptive cruise control is optional on the XLT and standard on Lariat and Raptor.

That means you should pay close attention to trim choice if safety tech matters to you. The truck’s lack of standard advanced safety features on the base model is the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• For 2024, the Ranger brings more of everything — power, tech, refinement, space, and choice — and adds new V6 engines plus a Raptor trim.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern Ranger in this stretch of the lineup, the 2024 is the one to target because it adds more choice, stronger capability, and a more polished driving experience. If your priority is simply the lowest purchase price, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you’ll give up some of the 2024’s added powertrain and trim variety.
