How much does the 2024 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 2,876 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Mustang earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its performance, driving experience, speed, handling, and engine sound, and many also like the updated technology. The Mustang’s classic muscle-car identity also comes through in the way it blends nostalgia with modern features, which fits well if you want a fun-on-a-budget performance car that still feels current.

The trade-offs are familiar: the back seat is cramped, cargo space is limited, and it can be noisy. Even so, the market still shows 33.9% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on performance that owners feel confident living with over time. The expert evaluation also describes the Mustang as approachable and easy to drive, which supports the idea that it should be straightforward to own if you keep up with routine maintenance.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the car’s core appeal and more about finding one that has been cared for properly, especially given the performance-oriented way many examples are likely to have been driven.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on overall condition, because the Mustang’s appeal depends heavily on how well the interior, drivetrain, and suspension have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin gets a much more modern look, with a glass panel that encloses the digital instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen, and materials quality is improved with fewer hard plastic surfaces. Base models use two separate screens, while Premium models place them in a single enclosure.
• Powertrain: The entry-level EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, while the GT’s 5.0-liter V8 makes 480 hp and 415 lb-ft. The EcoBoost is paired with a 10-speed automatic, and the GT comes standard with a six-speed manual and offers a 10-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.
• Infotainment: All models get a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, Amazon Alexa integration is included, and a Wi-Fi hotspot comes on all models. A native navigation system is optional, as is a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder EcoBoost is rated at 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. The V8-powered GT is rated at 15 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined with the automatic transmission, and the manual drops fuel economy by 1 mpg across the board.

Which 2024 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Mustang’s core formula with the 315-hp turbo four-cylinder, standard tech, and the best fuel economy in the lineup. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the car and care more about value than V8 power.
• EcoBoost Premium: This is the best-value choice if you want the modernized cabin experience, since Premium models get the single-enclosure screen layout and a more upscale feel. It’s the trim to target if you want the Mustang’s updated interior without jumping to V8 pricing.
• GT: This is the driver’s choice if you want the full muscle-car experience, thanks to the 480-hp V8, standard manual transmission, and stronger performance character. It suits you best if power and sound matter more than fuel economy.
• GT Premium: This is the right pick if you want the V8 experience plus the more upscale cabin presentation and available comfort features. It’s the most complete version of the Mustang for shoppers who want performance and everyday livability together.

The safety package includes standard driver-assistance features across the lineup, with adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning available as options.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every good listing to sit around for long.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,876 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,894, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $38,169 sits slightly below last year's $38,179.

That small decline suggests the Mustang’s used-market pricing has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you’re thinking about future resale. A steady price trend usually means you’re less likely to see a sharp drop in value over a short ownership window.

The Mustang’s strong demand also helps support resale, especially because it remains a distinctive performance car with broad appeal. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the car well, it should remain attractive to future buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2024 Ford Mustang earns Good ratings from IIHS and five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA in the prior-generation crash evaluations referenced by the safety text.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.

One caveat is that the crash-test results cited are from the previous generation, not this model year itself, so you should keep that in mind when weighing safety confidence.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert verdict highlights a final-tour Mustang that meaningfully improves interior and technology while keeping the classic muscle-car formula.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the most modern version of this generation’s Mustang and you value the updated cabin, strong performance, and stable pricing. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may save you money, but the 2024 is the better pick if you want the freshest mix of nostalgia and modernization.
