Used 2023 Toyota bZ4X for Sale near New York

How much does the 2023 Toyota bZ4X cost?

Prices have softened 4.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 533 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Toyota bZ4X earns a 4.33/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

Toyota positions it as a small electric crossover aimed at the heart of the market, and the driving experience backs that up with great handling and a comfortable ride. The trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarizing, the technology can be unintuitive, and it may not represent strong value for money.

The main compromises are the potentially polarizing styling and the less intuitive infotainment experience. Even so, the bZ4X’s comfortable road manners and everyday convenience features make it appealing if you want a straightforward EV crossover rather than a flashy one.

35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Toyota’s first U.S.-market volume EV is built around a simple lineup and a mainstream crossover format, which can be reassuring if you want a familiar ownership experience in an unfamiliar powertrain. The expert evaluation also points to a solid, planted feel on the road, which supports the impression of a well-sorted vehicle rather than a rough first attempt.

The battery-electric setup is straightforward, with single-motor front-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations, and the available warranty coverage includes an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty. That said, used-EV buyers should still check battery health, charging habits, and service records carefully, since long-term range retention matters more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota bZ4X?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or powertrains. Focus on battery condition, charging behavior, tire wear, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging. If possible, confirm how the vehicle has been maintained and whether any software updates or recalls have been addressed.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: XLE models ride on 18-inch wheels, while Limited models get 20-inch wheels and a more upscale equipment set. The Limited trim also adds available features such as a 360-degree camera system, so the base trim is the one to scrutinize if you want the most value.
• Powertrain: You can choose between single-motor front-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive. FWD models make 201 horsepower and 196 pound-feet of torque, while AWD models make 214 hp and 248 lb-ft; AWD is more about added traction than a big jump in power.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Safe Exit Assist. The Limited trim is the one with the available 360-degree camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and built-in over-the-air update capability. You also get four USB-C ports, a USB-A media port, and a Qi wireless charger.
• Range & charging: EPA range is 252 miles for the base FWD XLE, 242 miles for the FWD Limited, 228 miles for the AWD XLE, and 222 miles for the AWD Limited. Usable battery capacity is 71.4 kWh on FWD models and 72.8 kWh on AWD models. Toyota lists 30 minutes for an 80% DC fast charge, and the onboard charger can refill the battery in 9.5 hours.
• Battery health: Check the battery state of health, ask how often the car has been DC fast charged, and confirm whether it has mostly been charged at home. Also verify how much of the battery warranty remains, since that coverage matters more on a used EV than on a gas vehicle.

Which 2023 Toyota bZ4X trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota bZ4X is offered in 2 trim levels: XLE and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and the longest range in the lineup. It still gives you the standard EV essentials, including the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, and the single-motor FWD setup if you want to maximize efficiency.
• Limited: This is the better pick if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to give up some range for it. It adds the larger 20-inch wheels and can be had with the available 360-degree camera system, making it the trim to consider if you want the most equipment.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the Limited trim is the one with the available 360-degree camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota bZ4X?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 533 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.00% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,652, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X's resale value?

The current average of $23,406 sits slightly below last year's $24,382.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing discipline matters: if you buy near the low end of the range, you give yourself a better chance of preserving value later. The model’s broad appeal as a mainstream electric crossover should help keep demand steady, but value retention will still depend on condition, mileage, and battery health.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X safe?

The 2023 Toyota bZ4X received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash test categories, as well as the highest scores for front crash prevention tech. However, the standard headlights’ “Poor” rating excluded the Toyota from an IIHS Top Safety Pick award.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist automated lane centering, and Safe Exit Assist. A 360-degree camera system is available on the Limited trim.

The main caveat is the standard headlight performance, which kept it from earning an IIHS award despite strong crash results.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota bZ4X or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Toyota’s first U.S.-market volume EV brings a simple two-trim lineup, strong handling, and standard wireless smartphone integration.

The bottom line: The 2023 bZ4X makes sense if you want a used electric crossover with a straightforward lineup, good road manners, and a market that currently favors patient shoppers. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2023 is worth targeting when you find a clean, well-kept example near the low end of the range; if you want the most equipment, the Limited is the better path.
