Used 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid for Sale nearBoise, ID

How much does the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid cost?

Prices have softened 2.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 821 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid earns a 5/5 user rating and a 5.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10. Drivers consistently praise its great mileage, comfortable ride, and stylish design, while the overview also points to a quiet cabin and standard advanced safety features. The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and a cramped third row, and the expert review also notes that the interior materials feel cheap. For you, that makes this a strong fit if you want a family-focused hybrid SUV that emphasizes efficiency and reassurance more than driving excitement. Good and great deals account for 38.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to a reliable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting great mileage and a comfortable ride that make it easy to live with over time. The expert review reinforces that dependability theme by describing it as a reliable and safe family-sized SUV that works well for city and suburban use. If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle has been maintained well enough to avoid wear-related issues and disappointing condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace documentation. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and interior condition, since the expert review notes cheap-feeling materials and some durability concerns inside. It’s also worth confirming that the features you want are actually present, because equipment varies by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE trim level is front-wheel drive, while XLE, Bronze Edition, Limited, and Platinum are also offered; all-wheel drive is optional across the board. Base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps, since upper trims add more equipment and the Platinum brings the most upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: The hybrid system pairs a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine with two electric motor-generators, and AWD versions add a third electric assist motor for the rear wheels. It is tuned for efficiency rather than urgency, and high-speed passing power is limited.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign assist. Hybrid models also include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while Limited and Platinum add front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while Bronze Edition, Limited, and Platinum get a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, dual-device Bluetooth pairing, HD Radio, and SiriusXM are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA-rated combined figure is 35 mpg, and the expert review notes that real-world results can fall short of expectations.

Which 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, Bronze Edition, Limited, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the hybrid powertrain and standard safety tech at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the model, but you should be aware that the base setup is the least equipped.
• XLE: This is the trim most shoppers should start with if they want a better balance of equipment and value. It adds more comfort and convenience than LE without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• Bronze Edition: This trim stands out if you want a more distinctive look and the larger 12.3-inch infotainment display. It is a good fit if style and tech matter more to you than absolute value.
• Limited: This is the best-value upgrade for many buyers because it adds more premium features, including power folding exterior mirrors and the larger touchscreen. It also gains front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.
• Platinum: This is the most fully equipped version, and it is the right choice if you want the most upscale Highlander Hybrid experience. It adds the most advanced convenience and safety equipment, including the standard surround-view camera.

Limited and Platinum versions gain front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and the Platinum has a standard surround-view camera.

What is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $39,204 sits slightly below last year's $40,107.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are limited if prices keep drifting lower. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect a more competitive market than a year ago rather than a rising one. Strong owner satisfaction can still help support demand, especially for a hybrid SUV with a reputation for efficiency and safety.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings fresh technology, including a new 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display on upper trims and updated Toyota Audio Multimedia.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $35,450, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $39,204 average.
• It emphasizes efficiency and value over flash.

The bottom line: If you want the newer tech, strong safety equipment, and a healthier used-car inventory, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the core Highlander Hybrid strengths.
