How much does the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback cost?

Prices have softened 5.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 384 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

It fits you well if you want a compact hatchback that prioritizes utility and style, with a small footprint and more cargo flexibility than a sedan. The overview also points to strong safety and a well-rounded feature set, while the expert notes reinforce that it is easy to live with and technologically advanced.

The main trade-offs are uninspired performance and limited cargo space compared with larger vehicles. The driving aids can also be irritating, so if you are sensitive to intrusive assistance systems, that is worth weighing.

30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes it as a car that is likely to keep running strong for years, and the expert notes say it is likely to keep running strong for years, perhaps decades, if you take good care of it. It is also described as simple and easy to drive, which usually helps reduce ownership friction over time.

It also includes free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles of driving, which can help lower early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is not a major reliability red flag but the possibility that a neglected example could lose the durability advantage this model is known for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven in dense traffic or on rough roads. Focus on overall condition, how the driver-assistance systems behave, and whether the cabin and controls feel consistent with the mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE and XSE trims differ in equipment, and the XSE adds features that the SE does not get standard, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Powertrain: The car uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a CVT, plus Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes. It delivers decent power, but it is not the choice if you want quick acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, road sign assist, automatic high-beam headlight control, and Proactive Driving Assist with Obstacle Anticipation Assist and Deceleration Assist.
• Infotainment: A standard 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-smartphone Bluetooth pairing, over-the-air updates, and available connected services make the tech package a strong point.
• Fuel efficiency: The XSE trim level earns 33 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is offered in 2 trim levels: SE and XSE.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the trim to target if you want the lower entry price and the core Corolla Hatchback experience. It gives you the hatchback body style, standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, and the new infotainment setup, while keeping the car’s overall value proposition intact.
• XSE: This is the better-equipped choice if you want the most complete version of the Corolla Hatchback. It adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, plus the standard eight-speaker JBL premium audio system and wireless smartphone charging. If you want the best-value trim with the strongest equipment mix, this is the one to focus on.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard only on XSE and optional on SE.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 384 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,566, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $21,861 sits slightly below last year's $23,120.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays where it is. The current range suggests the model has already adjusted downward from last year’s level, which can limit upside in the near term.

Even so, the car’s strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal as a practical hatchback should help support demand over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback safe?

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback earns a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS and five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, road sign assist, automatic high-beam headlight control, and Proactive Driving Assist with Obstacle Anticipation Assist and Deceleration Assist.

A key caveat is that the lane-centering and adaptive cruise systems can feel intrusive, and the XSE’s blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on SE. Parking sensors and a surround-view camera system are unavailable.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model adds next-generation Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and updated infotainment tech.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of this hatchback’s tech and safety setup, the 2023 is the right place to start. If your priority is stretching your budget, a lower-priced nearby year may be worth considering, but you should expect to give up some of the 2023 updates.
