Should I buy a 2023 Rivian R1S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

If you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, current pricing, and available inventory, the 2023 is the one to target first. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it’s still worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2023’s strong market position and broad appeal.
