CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Nissan LEAF

Summary
With 450 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,450.00, 43.8% of 2023 Nissan LEAFs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Nissan LEAF 5 / 5 stars.
94.9% of 2023 LEAF models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Nissan LEAF stands out as a practical, value-focused electric hatchback with a modernized look and a stronger drivetrain than the original car that made the nameplate famous. For this generation, Nissan gave the LEAF a larger battery that could deliver up to 150 miles of range and a more powerful drivetrain rated at 147 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. It also brought in e-Pedal technology, which lets drivers lean heavily on regenerative braking for a one-pedal driving style, and the car’s 6.6-kW onboard charger can replenish the battery in about eight hours on a Level 2 charger.
The 2023 model also benefits from a sharper exterior design and a useful set of standard and available features. Forward collision warning and mitigation with automatic braking was standard, while available safety equipment included intelligent lane intervention, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross traffic alert. Buyers could also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the model’s vehicle-to-home capability through NissanConnect adds an uncommon layer of everyday usefulness by letting the battery help power a home during an outage. Its main limitation is still range: even with the improvements, the 2023 Nissan LEAF remains best suited to drivers whose daily needs fit within its battery capacity.

I love this Leaf with a 212-mile range as an around-town car. With a CHAdeMO fast charger, that is being phased out, it is difficult to do a long road trip. However, I do not need to do long trips, so it works for me.

How much does the 2023 Nissan LEAF cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,506 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,096.01 |
| Year-Round High | $18,046.04 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,077 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +2.51% |
Prices are up 2.51% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 454 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $15,096.01, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2023 Nissan LEAF a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Nissan LEAF earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview frames it as a practical, value-focused electric hatchback with a modernized look, a stronger drivetrain, and everyday-friendly features like e-Pedal driving and a 6.6-kW onboard charger. It also fits best if your daily driving stays within its range limits, since the model is still positioned as a commuter-friendly EV rather than a long-range road-trip specialist. With 35.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.
Is the 2023 Nissan LEAF reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview emphasizes a straightforward, practical EV formula with a larger battery, a more powerful drivetrain, and useful charging convenience, all of which support an easy ownership experience. Its main reliability consideration for used buyers is less about complexity and more about making sure the battery, charging behavior, and overall condition still match your daily driving needs.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan LEAF?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report so you can confirm the car’s background and spot any prior damage or title issues. Put the battery, charging equipment, and onboard charging performance high on your inspection checklist, since those are central to how well an EV like this will serve you. Focus on overall condition and whether the car’s range and usage history fit your commute, because that matters more here than chasing extra features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan LEAF?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 454 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.51% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 94.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,096.01, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Nissan LEAF's resale value?
The current average of $17,506 sits slightly above last year's $17,077. That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay a bit more for this model year, which is a helpful sign if you plan to sell later. For you, that means a well-kept LEAF can hold attention in the used market, especially if it presents cleanly and is priced near the lower end of the range. Strong demand for practical EVs can help support resale, but condition and battery health will still matter a lot when it’s time to list it.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Nissan LEAF or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.51% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a practical, value-focused electric hatchback with strong owner approval and a market that still offers some deal opportunities, the 2023 is the primary year to target.
