Why it stands out
The 2023 Mazda CX-5 continues to be a compelling choice in the competitive compact crossover SUV market. With its stylish design and high-quality interior, the CX-5 feels luxurious without the luxury price tag, making it an attractive option for buyers seeking value. It offers impressive performance, especially with the available turbocharged engine that delivers up to 256 horsepower, making it fun to drive. The latest model comes with noteworthy safety ratings, earning a Top Safety Pick designation, which will appeal to safety-conscious buyers. However, the CX-5 does have some drawbacks, including a cramped back seat and a cargo area that lacks space compared to competitors. Additionally, the infotainment system has been criticized for its user interface, although many owners appreciate the vehicle's comfort and handling.

I had been told to stick to Honda or Toyota for a practical car but I was frustrated having to go higher trims to get my dealbreakers like keyless entry or power seats. I also hadn’t been a fan of SUVs but wanted more cargo space, so I was looking for hatchbacks, but they are so hard to find. Thankfully a friend with this car suggested I try it- I was floored to see how many reasonably priced barely used options I had! And more importantly, the BASE model has everything I could want- keyless entry, power seats, heated seats, a great screen, and so much cargo space. I was comfortable driving this IMMEDIATELY despite never having an SUV. The seats being leather trim with suede centers are truly the best of both worlds. And I could care less than it doesn’t have a touch screen, because the control knob is amazing. I love that the base model has all these perks without a moonroof, which I truly did not want. The only downside I can think of is a less than stellar fuel economy, but I just don’t drive long enough distances for that to be much of a concern for me personally..

Love all the features of the CX-5, especially the heads up display. I thought it was going to be annoying, but its certainly useful. The fact that cars in your blind spot show up on the display is great. I notice that vefore the indicators on the side view mirrors. It has a smooth and comfortable ride.
