Used 2023 Lexus GX for Sale nearDurham, NC

How much does the 2023 Lexus GX cost?

Prices have softened 2.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,379 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2023 Lexus GX a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.8/5 owner-rated SUV with an expert score of 6.00/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 7/10.

Owners consistently praise the GX for its luxurious feel, proven reliability, powerful V8 engine, off-road capability, and comfort. That lines up with the overview: this is a body-on-frame luxury SUV aimed at buyers who want towing and off-road ability without giving up comfort and style.

The trade-offs are clear, though: poor fuel economy and outdated technology are recurring drawbacks, and the third row is cramped. With 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Lexus GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a proven, dependable SUV that many shoppers feel comfortable counting on over time. The expert review also reinforces that sense of durability by describing the GX as a traditional body-on-frame SUV with a long-running mechanical formula and a real 4WD system built for tougher use.

Lexus also includes useful ownership-friendly touches such as three years of Lexus Enform Remote. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and outdated tech may matter more than mechanical drama.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re considering, even if the market looks clean overall. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear items, electronics, and signs of hard use, especially if the SUV has seen towing or off-road duty. Pay close attention to condition because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim has fewer extras, while higher trims add more luxury equipment and option flexibility. The interior also shows some plastic-heavy surfaces, so you should compare cabin materials and equipment carefully before paying more for a higher trim.
• Powertrain: The GX uses a 4.6-liter V8 with 301 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission. It delivers strong low-end power and a traditional V8 character, but it is not especially efficient.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert, adaptive cruise control, parking assist, and automatic high beams. It is missing lane-tracing assist and road-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The GX has a 10.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. The system is improved over the older setup, but it still feels dated compared with newer rivals.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 15 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 16 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Lexus GX is offered in 4 trim levels: GX 460, GX 460 Premium, GX 460 Luxury, GX 460 Black Line.

Here's the short version:

• GX 460: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core GX formula without the higher-trim price jump. It makes sense if you want the V8, 4WD hardware, and capability first.
• GX 460 Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without pushing all the way to the top. If you want a more complete luxury experience, this is the trim to focus on.
• GX 460 Luxury: This trim is for you if you want the most upscale version of the GX and are willing to pay for it. It brings the richest equipment mix in the lineup.
• GX 460 Black Line: This limited edition adds distinctive styling and extra equipment, including the panoramic monitor as standard. It suits you if you want a more exclusive look and can find one of the limited units.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but the GX still misses some higher-end driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Lexus GX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,379 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $54,481, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $54,833 sits slightly below last year's $56,098.

That softer pricing suggests the GX has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. Because the model still attracts buyers who want a V8, towing ability, and off-road capability, demand should remain fairly focused rather than broad.

If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and avoid heavy wear, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Lexus GX safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Neither NHTSA nor IIHS crash-tested the 2023 Lexus GX. Lexus does equip it with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert, adaptive cruise control, parking assist, and automatic high beams, but it does not include lane-tracing assist or road-sign recognition.

That means you get a solid standard driver-assistance set, but not the full suite of newer convenience and safety tech. For a used buyer, the lack of crash-test results and the model’s older underlying design are the main caveats to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2023 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the traditional V8-and-4WD formula that suits towing and off-road use.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $46,926, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $54,833 average.
• It offers the same rugged, body-on-frame, capability-first character.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-year pricing, owner satisfaction, and market availability, the 2023 is the better target. If your priority is spending less and you’re comfortable with the older formula, the 2022 is the value play.
