How much does the 2023 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 6.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,316 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Honda Pilot earns a 4.42/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfortable ride, and room for up to eight passengers. The Pilot also gets credit for its stylish design and family-friendly practicality, while the overview points to useful tech features and broad appeal for buyers who want more than a typical family hauler.

The main trade-offs are that fuel economy is merely average and the engine performance and infotainment system have drawn criticism from some drivers. That makes it a strong fit if you value comfort, space, and everyday usability more than sporty response or class-leading tech polish.

Good and great deals account for 36.2% of listings, which gives you a decent chance to find a competitive price.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels spacious, comfortable, and solidly suited to family use, with many drivers highlighting its roominess and practical everyday character. It also suggests the Pilot is a model you can count on for long-term satisfaction, especially if you prioritize comfort and utility over flash.

The expert drive notes reinforce that dependable feel by describing smooth, confidence-inspiring operation, with the adaptive cruise control maintaining gaps well and the advanced safety features working as intended. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a value-oriented midrange trim, which can help you avoid overbuying equipment you may not need.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is that average fuel economy and mixed impressions of engine performance could leave you less satisfied if you expect stronger efficiency or more punch.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if it looks clean on the surface. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, brakes, electronics, and any signs of hard use, especially if the vehicle has been used for family hauling or light off-road driving. Focus on overall condition and equipment content, since trim differences matter a lot on this model.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TrailSport adds a more rugged look and legitimate off-road hardware, including a taller ride height, all-terrain tires, and skid plates, while the interior remains more functional and versatile than before. Base trims are more basic, so you may want to step up if you care about convenience and tech.
• Powertrain: The Pilot uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, while all-wheel drive is available across the lineup and standard on the Elite and TrailSport.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite include surround-view and multi-view camera systems.
• Infotainment: Step up to at least the EX-L trim if you want the larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and USB ports in every row. Higher trims add a multi-view camera system, while Touring and Elite bring navigation, Bose premium audio, remote monitoring and control via smartphone app, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model is rated at 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. All-wheel drive drops that to 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the TrailSport is rated at 18 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda Pilot is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s best if you’re mainly shopping on price and can live without the extra convenience and tech features found higher up the range.
• EX-L: This is the value leader. It adds a power liftgate, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, second-row sunshades, and the key tech and safety upgrades that make the Pilot feel much more complete.
• TrailSport: Choose this if you want the most off-road-capable version. It adds the rugged hardware and trail-focused setup, and it makes sense if you genuinely plan to explore moderately challenging terrain.
• Touring: This is the better pick if you want more luxury and family convenience, including navigation, Bose audio, remote app features, and the stowable second-row center seat.
• Elite: This is the top-end choice for shoppers who want the most equipment, including the head-up display, fully digital instrument panel, and the most complete camera and comfort setup.

The safety package is strongest on the EX-L and higher trims, while TrailSport and Elite add the surround-view and multi-view camera systems.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,316 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.60% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,846, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $36,846 sits slightly below last year's $39,448.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if prices continue to normalize. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value later.

The Pilot’s broad family appeal, roomy cabin, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2023 Honda Pilot received a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite include surround-view and multi-view camera systems.

In testing, the advanced safety features worked as intended, and the adaptive cruise control was described as smooth and well-behaved. If you plan to use a TrailSport off pavement, some proximity warnings and low-speed automatic braking may be more intrusive around obstacles.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model is fully redesigned, with a more rugged appearance, more power, and an off-road-capable TrailSport that broadens its appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Pilot with stronger styling, more capability, and broad family usefulness, the 2023 is the better path. If you’re mainly chasing the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2023 gives you the most modern version of this formula and a good mix of value, comfort, and equipment.
