CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Genesis G70
overall
Summary
With 814 currently listed for sale and an average price of $30,751, 35.7% of 2023 Genesis G70 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Genesis G70 4.57 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
82.7% of 2023 Genesis G70 listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Genesis G70 stands out as a small luxury sedan that blends style, performance, and approachable technology. It carries over unchanged after a major update for 2022, so its appeal is rooted in a polished design and a well-rounded character rather than a fresh redesign. Genesis positions it as the brand’s entry-level sedan, and it fits squarely among the compact luxury cars shoppers cross-shop in this segment.
Buyers can choose between a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6, with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available. The lineup also includes Standard and Sport Prestige trims for four-cylinder models, while V6 versions add a Sport Advanced trim between those two. In testing, the G70 was described as fun to drive and easy to use, which helps explain its appeal to shoppers who want a luxury sedan that feels engaging without being difficult to live with.
There are tradeoffs, though. The V6 is noted for poor fuel economy, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the 2023 Genesis G70’s combination of attractive design, strong performance, and user-friendly technology makes it a compelling choice for buyers who value driving enjoyment and upscale presentation in a compact package.

This is the Sport Prestige package and my lord is it amazing. The interior is comfy, looks nice and the features suit my needs. The Siberian ice is stunning with its aftermarket wheels. I was considering this, a ct4v blackwing, is500 or the new scat pack and I just felt this car is of better value.

The feedback also points to a luxurious interior and powerful handling, which fits a compact luxury sedan that aims to feel upscale without being hard to live with. In practical terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a stylish daily driver with an engaging personality rather than maximum space or a purely comfort-first setup.
The main trade-offs are poor fuel economy from the V6 and limited cargo space. Even so, the market still shows 37.0% good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable and trouble-free enough to inspire confidence over time, with praise centered on its value and overall ownership experience. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the G70 as easy to use and well sorted, which matters when you want a luxury sedan that won’t feel fussy in everyday driving. Genesis also backs the car with three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about how previous owners treated the car, especially given the model’s performance focus and depreciation concerns.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis G70?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on every candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the car has had multiple owners, higher mileage, or any signs of cosmetic repair. Focus on overall condition, because a luxury sedan like this can hide expensive wear in the brakes, tires, wheels, and interior trim. If you’re comparing several listings, the cleanest example is often worth a small premium.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Standard trim gives you the core G70 experience, while the Sport Prestige adds features like Nappa leather upholstery, a surround-view camera system, and Brembo brakes. The base car already includes heated front seats, leatherette seating, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, but the higher trim is the better pick if you want the most complete luxury feel.
- Powertrain: You can choose a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, both paired with an eight-speed automatic. The four-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the stronger performance choice but uses more fuel.
- Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, safe-exit assist, and Highway Driving Assist. Some extras, like front and rear park distance control and a blind-spot view camera system, are optional.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless smartphone mirroring is not included, and a head-up display is optional.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder with RWD is rated at 25 mpg combined (21 city/31 highway), while AWD drops it to 23 mpg combined (20 city/28 highway). The V6 returns 21 mpg combined (18 city/27 highway) with RWD and 20 mpg combined (17 city/26 highway) with AWD.
Which 2023 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Genesis G70 is offered in 3 trim levels: Standard, Sport Prestige, and Sport Advanced.
Here's the short version:
- Standard: This is the best-value trim if you want the G70’s core strengths without stretching the budget. You still get the attractive design, the easy-to-use tech, and a strong safety suite, so it covers the essentials well.
- Sport Advanced: This trim sits between the entry model and the top version on V6 cars, making it the right step-up if you want more equipment without going all the way to the most expensive setup.
- Sport Prestige: This is the most fully equipped choice and the one to target if you want the richest luxury experience. It adds Nappa leather, a surround-view camera system, and Brembo brakes, making it the most compelling pick for shoppers who want the most content.
The safety package is generous across the lineup, but some features remain optional rather than standard.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis G70?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 809 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 82.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,914, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Genesis G70's resale value?
The current average of $30,724 sits slightly below last year's $30,805.
That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is usually a good sign if you’re planning to resell later. A steady price pattern can help you estimate future value more confidently, especially if you buy near the lower end of the range. The model’s strong owner satisfaction also supports demand from used shoppers who want a stylish luxury sedan with a good reputation.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 safe?
The 2023 Genesis G70 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Genesis equips the G70 with a broad standard safety suite that includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, safe-exit assist, and Highway Driving Assist. That gives you a lot of driver-assistance tech even before you start looking at options.
One caveat is that Highway Driving Assist is highway-only and still requires you to keep your hands on the wheel. The system also isn’t as smooth as some rivals’ lane-centering setups, so it’s helpful to treat it as a convenience feature rather than a fully relaxed driving aid.
Should I buy a 2023 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It carries over the refreshed design and well-rounded setup from the prior update.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $25,734, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $30,724 average.
- It brings the refreshed styling and improved infotainment update.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $32,116, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $30,724 average.
- It adds a new engine option and more compelling powertrain flexibility.
The bottom line: If you want the most balanced mix of price, features, and market availability, the 2023 is the safest default choice. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value path. If you want the newest powertrain choices and can spend more, the 2024 is worth a look.
