How much does the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty cost?

Prices have softened 6.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,068 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare trims and prices.

Is the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty a good car?

The 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty earns an 8.5/10 expert rating, and it is positioned as a well-rounded heavy-duty pickup with broad trim coverage and strong everyday usability. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

The overview and expert notes point to a truck that balances serious capability with easy-to-use technology and a wide range of configurations, so you can match it to work needs or a more comfort-focused setup. The trade-offs are clear too: it can get expensive quickly, its engines are thirsty, and its wide turning radius can make tight spaces frustrating.

The truck’s broad trim range is a major advantage if you want to tailor the price and equipment level to your budget. Good and great deals account for 33.3% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?

The 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty is presented as a durable, work-focused heavy-duty pickup with strong powertrain choices and a practical feature set. The expert notes emphasize that the 10-speed transmission keeps the diesel engine in its optimal powerband, and the truck’s stump-pulling grunt remains a core part of its appeal.

The cost-effectiveness notes also frame it as a solid value in this segment, especially if you choose a lower trim and avoid loading up on expensive options. Ford’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a small ownership perk if you are planning to keep the truck for the long haul.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about a single weak point and more about the realities of heavy-duty ownership: high operating costs, heavy use, and the possibility that prior towing or work duty may have accelerated wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you are considering, even if it looks clean on paper. Prior towing, commercial use, and heavy hauling can leave wear that is not obvious in photos, so a pre-purchase inspection should focus on the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and signs of hard use. Pay close attention to how the truck was equipped and whether the features you want are present on the specific trim you are shopping.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is a work truck with 17-inch wheels, vinyl upholstery, a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an 8-inch touchscreen, while the XLT adds cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, two wall-style power outlets, and an integrated trailer brake controller. The Lariat brings leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless device charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, a fully digital instrument panel, remote start, a heated steering wheel, and a larger 12-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited move further into luxury-truck territory with upscale styling and more premium equipment.

• Powertrain: The base engine is a 6.8-liter gas V8 with 400 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. You can also get a 7.3-liter V8 with 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque, or a 6.7-liter PowerStroke turbodiesel V8 with 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque. The high-output version of that diesel makes 500 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque. The 10-speed automatic helps keep the diesel in its powerband, and the truck’s towing ability is a major strength.

• Safety package: Starting at the XLT trim, the truck comes with Ford CoPilot 360, which can include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centering assist, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree parking camera system. Some features depend on trim and equipment, so make sure the specific truck you are considering has the driver-assistance items you want.

• Infotainment: The base setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims can get a 12-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, plus a logical layout and redundant physical controls. Ford also offers Trailer Navigation for route planning when you are towing.

• Fuel efficiency: According to one crowdsourced source, the 6.8-liter gas engine returns around 11 mpg, the 7.3-liter gas engine returns around 11 to 12 mpg, and the 6.7-liter diesel engine returns between 13 and 17 mpg. In combined city and highway driving, the expert test truck averaged 17.9 mpg.

Which 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most affordable entry point and still gives you a usable work-truck setup with an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, and basic creature comforts. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and do not need many luxury features.

• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, two wall-style power outlets, and an integrated trailer brake controller. It is the trim to target if you want a practical mix of work-ready equipment and everyday convenience.

• Lariat: This is the trim where the truck starts to feel genuinely upscale, with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument panel, remote start, a heated steering wheel, and the 12-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration. Choose this if you want the strongest blend of comfort and tech.

• King Ranch: This trim leans into luxury-truck character with distinctive styling, premium interior materials, an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, auxiliary switches, and available towing and bed-focused equipment. It suits you if you want a high-end truck with a more distinctive personality.

• Platinum: This trim offers similar comfort to the King Ranch but with more cosmopolitan styling, plus features like LED fog lights, power-deploying running boards, a powered tailgate, and power-adjustable pedals. It is a good fit if you want luxury with a cleaner, more refined look.

• Limited: This is the range-topper with nearly every package and option, including max-recline seats, a massive dual-panel sunroof, and unique interior and exterior styling. Buy this only if you want the most fully equipped version and are comfortable paying for it.

Starting at the XLT trim, Ford CoPilot 360 is available, but the exact feature set depends on how the truck is equipped.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best trucks still deserve quick attention.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,068 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $56,588, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $56,588 sits slightly below last year's $60,264.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to help you buy more selectively today. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your resale value may depend heavily on trim, mileage, condition, and how well the truck was maintained.

Higher-trim trucks can still hold appeal because they offer more equipment and broader buyer interest, but the segment’s high purchase prices can also make depreciation more noticeable in dollar terms. If you are buying used, the best resale protection usually comes from choosing a desirable trim, keeping mileage reasonable, and avoiding trucks with signs of hard commercial use.

Is the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford CoPilot 360 is the key driver-assistance suite, and depending on trim it can include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centering assist, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree parking camera system. For a truck this large, the parking camera system is especially useful, and Ford also offers trailer-focused safety tools such as trailer blind-spot monitoring and a backup camera for when the tailgate is lowered.

The expert notes also highlight dual-tier power-adjustable and power-telescoping trailer mirrors, which help with visibility around the truck’s large blind spots. One important caveat is that neither NHTSA nor IIHS crash-tested the Super Duty, so you are relying on the truck’s available safety tech and your own inspection of the exact vehicle you are considering.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
• The 2023 model year stands out for its broad trim range, easy-to-use technology, and strong all-around capability.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck that balances work strength, comfort, and technology, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop nearby years, but the 2023’s softer pricing and strong inventory make it a smart place to start.
