Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — 4.8/5 is a strong user rating for a heavy-duty truck, and the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD backs that up with broad configuration choices and a more modern cabin than older work-focused pickups. It can tow up to 20,000 pounds with a conventional hitch and 22,500 with a fifth-wheel setup, and it offers regular, extended, and crew cab layouts so you can match the truck to your needs. The cabin equipment is also a plus, with even lower trims getting a touchscreen, smartphone integration, and a digital instrument display, while higher trims add a larger screen and Google built-in software. 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is presented as a truck built for serious capability, with a broad range of configurations and available gas or diesel power. Its equipment list also suggests a well-developed ownership experience, with driver and trailering aids that help make a large truck easier to live with. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a truck this size is best suited to people who truly need its strength, since higher fuel use and heavy-duty wear can matter more over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Put inspection priority on the truck’s condition, especially signs of hard use, since heavy-duty pickups are often worked harder than lighter-duty vehicles. Focus on how the truck was maintained and whether its equipment, cabin, and towing-related features show wear that matches the mileage.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $43,921 sits slightly below last year's $49,239.

That price movement suggests the truck has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained. Heavy-duty trucks can hold appeal when they’re clean and well cared for, but the market still rewards examples that look and feel ready for work.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $53,679, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $43,921 average.
• It adds a refresh with better styling and a new off-road trim.

The 2023 is the better pick if you want a strong value play with broad availability and a lower average price. If you’re price-sensitive, it makes sense to focus here first. If you want the newer refresh and can stretch your budget, the 2024 is the better secondary path.
