That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. Should I buy a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $50,214, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $53,461 average.
• It offers capable heavy-duty performance with useful features and a more well-rounded personality.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $64,697, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $53,461 average.
• It adds a top-tier luxury trim with stronger diesel towing muscle.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around path if you want a balanced mix of capability, features, and current-market value. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter secondary path because it undercuts the current-year average while still delivering the core Sierra HD strengths.
