Is the 2023 Audi Q5 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Audi Q5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its luxurious feel, advanced technology, and smooth performance. They also highlight the stylish design and comfortable interior, which line up with the Q5’s upscale, quiet cabin and standard all-wheel drive. In practical terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a refined small luxury SUV that feels easy to live with every day.

The main trade-off is sluggish initial acceleration, and the expert notes that power delivery can feel delayed. Even so, the Q5 remains appealing if you value comfort, a premium interior, and a well-rounded driving experience over quick off-the-line response.

Is the 2023 Audi Q5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers emphasizing the Q5’s luxurious feel, smooth performance, and comfortable interior. The expert notes also reinforce that impression by describing the Q5 as solidly built, with no squeaks or creaks over rough surfaces and a calm, quiet cabin that feels appropriately durable for daily use.

The Q5 also benefits from standard all-wheel drive and a generally composed driving character, which can help it feel reassuring over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that premium running costs can add up, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Audi Q5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same as guaranteed trouble-free ownership. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a luxury SUV like this, where you want to confirm that the cabin, electronics, and drivetrain all feel as refined as they should. Focus on overall condition, since the Q5’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry trim includes leather seating, heated front seats, a 10-inch touchscreen, and standard all-wheel drive, while higher trims add features such as a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a customizable digital instrument panel, lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, traffic jam assist, matrix-design LED headlights, a head-up display, a semi-automated parking system, and a traffic sign reader. The midrange trim is the best-value choice because it adds a good amount of tech and safety equipment without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 201 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, and the lineup also includes a 261-hp version plus a plug-in hybrid with 362 hp and 23 miles of electric-only range. All versions use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and standard all-wheel drive, but the base engine’s slow response is the key thing to evaluate on a test drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, and traffic jam assist, while the top trim adds matrix-design LED headlights, a head-up display, a semi-automated parking system, and a traffic sign reader. Rear-seat side impact airbags are offered as an option on all trims.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, smartphone app features, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Higher trims add a customizable digital instrument panel, and the system’s boot-up time and CarPlay activation speed are worth checking during a test drive.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard engine is estimated at 23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined, while the midrange engine is rated at 22 mpg city and the same 25 mpg combined. The plug-in hybrid is estimated at 23 miles of electric range and 26 mpg combined once the battery is depleted.

Which 2023 Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Audi Q5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, and it already gives you leather seating, heated front seats, standard all-wheel drive, a 10-inch touchscreen, and the core safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting cost and can live without the extra convenience and driver-assistance upgrades.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim because it adds a good amount of tech and safety features to justify the cost, including lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, traffic jam assist, and a customizable digital instrument panel. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Prestige: This trim is for you if you want the most upscale Q5 experience, with matrix-design LED headlights, a head-up display, a semi-automated parking system, and a traffic sign reader. It suits buyers who want the most convenience and luxury features.

Rear-seat side impact airbags are offered as an option on all trims.

That price movement suggests the Q5 has already absorbed a fair amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. The market also appears reasonably active, which can support demand for clean examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 42.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 Q5 is attractive, sporty, and comfortable, but its sluggish initial acceleration is the main drawback.

The bottom line: If you want a well-rounded small luxury SUV with strong safety, a quiet cabin, and plenty of tech, the 2023 Q5 is a sensible buy. If you’re especially sensitive to slow initial acceleration, you may want to compare it carefully with other years or alternatives before deciding.
