How much does the 2023 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,802 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The 2023 MDX fits well if you want a midsize three-row crossover SUV with a stylish design, Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, and a more polished feel than many family haulers. It also benefits from a fresh redesign and added connected-services and maintenance coverage for this model year.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and a cramped third row are the biggest compromises, and the ergonomic layout can be frustrating to use. Even so, the MDX remains appealing if you value style, safety, and a premium driving character over maximum space or efficiency.

Good and great deals account for 38.4% of listings, which is a decent sign that you can still find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 MDX comes across as a well-rounded luxury SUV with a fresh design and a strong safety reputation, and Acura’s added maintenance coverage for the first two years or 24,000 miles helps reduce early ownership costs. Its standard all-wheel-drive setup and polished road manners also support the sense that it is built for everyday use.

At the same time, the expert evaluation points to some ownership friction, especially around fuel economy and the user experience. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term risk is not outright durability so much as living with higher running costs and a few annoying usability quirks.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Acura MDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, even when the accident-free share is relatively high. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the cabin controls, infotainment operation, and any signs of uneven wear or neglected maintenance. Because this model’s drawbacks include ergonomics and third-row space, it is worth making sure the condition and layout work for your daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard MDX comes in a base level of specification with available Technology, A-Spec, and Advance packages, while the MDX Type S is offered in standard spec or with an Advance package. The base setup gets the core luxury and safety hardware, but the higher packages add more equipment and a more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: The standard MDX uses a 3.5-liter V6, while the Type S uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The Type S also uses a 10-speed automatic transmission and Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
• Safety package: Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment display, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. AcuraLink connected services are included with a complimentary three-year subscription, and the system also supports Amazon Alexa Built-In.
• Fuel efficiency: The Type S averaged 16.9 mpg in evaluation driving and returned 17 mpg in city driving. Acura also cites 19 mpg in combined driving for the Type S.

Which 2023 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Acura MDX is offered in 6 trim levels: base level of specification, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, standard spec, and Advance package.

Here's the short version:

• base level of specification: This is the starting point for the standard MDX, and it gives you the core three-row luxury SUV formula without the extra equipment of the higher packages. If you want the lowest entry point into the lineup, this is where you begin.
• Technology: This package adds more equipment and is a logical step up if you want a better-equipped daily driver without jumping to the sportier or more expensive versions.
• A-Spec: This is the trim the expert evaluation recommends if you want the most enjoyable standard MDX experience. It keeps the SUV’s strong fundamentals while avoiding the Type S’s extra compromises.
• Advance: This package adds more luxury and convenience content, making it the better choice if you want a more upscale feel and more features.
• standard spec: This is the starting point for the MDX Type S, which brings the turbocharged V6 and the more performance-focused hardware.
• Advance package: This is the most upscale Type S configuration, adding more luxury content on top of the performance hardware.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but some features are reserved for certain trim packages, so it is worth checking the exact equipment list before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best listings can still move quickly.

• Deal availability: 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,802 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,279, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $38,279 sits slightly below last year's $41,674.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the MDX still has strong demand signals and a premium reputation, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX safe?

The 2023 Acura MDX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star protection ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

There are a few caveats to keep in mind. The lane-departure alerts can feel intrusive, and the system can issue false warnings in some road conditions. The evaluation also noted an unexpected braking event when the SUV misread an overhead sign, so you should pay close attention to how the driver-assistance tech behaves on your test drive.

Should I buy a 2023 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds complimentary AcuraLink connected services and scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,598, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,279 average.
• It brings a fresh redesign and a more polished, modern feel.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $41,220, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,279 average.
• It adds a new Type-S trim level for more performance.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and everyday appeal, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the value play, while the 2024 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer model-year setup.
