CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Toyota Venza
overall

Summary
With 752 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,838.00, 31.6% of 2022 Toyota Venzas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Toyota Venza 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
81.6% of 2022 Venza models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Venza stands out by blending wagon-like proportions with crossover SUV practicality, giving it a shape and identity that feels a little different from the usual midsize two-row SUV. It also comes with a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain and standard all-wheel drive, which helps define it as an efficiency-focused choice rather than a conventional gas-only family hauler.
That focus on efficiency is one of its biggest strengths. The Venza uses a 2.5-liter gas engine, an electric motor, and a continuously variable automatic transmission, and the EPA estimates it can achieve up to 40 mpg city, 37 highway, and 39 combined fuel economy. It also starts at $33,240 and is offered in three trim levels. Beyond the numbers, the available information points to a comfortable, quiet, and smooth-driving vehicle with a luxurious-feeling interior, while owners also praise its fuel efficiency. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the technology can be unintuitive, the design may be polarizing, and cargo space is limited.

The Venza looks more Lexus-like, inside and out. I was very impressed with how quiet and comfortable the interior was. I like the fuel consumption of this new generation of hybrid and the higher sitting position. I looked at an XLE, which had good safety tech and decent upgrades over the LE. Disappointed that the panoramic sunroof is only available on the Limited trim. I think Toyota should include a conventional sunroof/moonroof that opens on at least the XLE. I would buy one if the markets pricing was normal.

We love our Toyota Venza! Its user friendly, has great visibility and maneuverability. Spacious, yet not too big. Great gas milage being a hybrid. Just need to get used to the quiet ignition noise- you forget its on! Weve been happy with this car for our 16 yer old driver.

Wonderful car, even considering the price tag. Extremely posh interior, thoughtful tech and safety features, beautiful design, drives pleasantly. Not for racing enthusiasts. A vehicle for those who want to keep their blood pressure under control.

CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2022 Toyota Venza prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2022 Toyota Venza cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $28,886 |
| Year-Round Low | $27,406.87 |
| Year-Round High | $29,893.33 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $29,898 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −3.39% |
Prices have softened 3.39% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 755 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $27,406.87, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Toyota Venza earns a 4.71/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, quiet ride, and fuel efficiency, and many also like its upscale-feeling interior and smooth driving experience. The Venza’s efficiency-focused hybrid setup and standard all-wheel drive make it a strong fit if you want a refined two-row SUV that leans more premium than practical-maximalist.
The trade-offs are that the technology can be unintuitive and the design may not appeal to everyone. Even so, the Venza’s comfortable cabin and efficiency-first mission make it a compelling choice if those strengths matter more than outright utility.
With 32.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, quiet, and fuel-efficient over time, with many drivers describing it as a model they would recommend. That kind of praise suggests the Venza is the sort of vehicle you can count on for a calm, efficient daily routine.
Its hybrid system is described as transparent in operation and requiring no special attention to work, which supports the impression of easy ownership. Toyota also emphasizes shared parts and engineering across its lineup, which can help with serviceability and long vehicle viability.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history match its reputation.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin tech, interior condition, and any signs that the vehicle’s comfort-focused features have been used heavily. Since the Venza’s appeal is tied to refinement and efficiency, condition matters a lot.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LE uses an 8-inch touchscreen and a 5-inch instrument cluster display, while the XLE and Limited move to a 7-inch cluster display. The Limited also adds a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and the base setup is lighter on premium touches.
- Powertrain: The Venza uses a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine with three electric motors for 219 horsepower combined. It balances gas and electric drive for efficiency, offers EV operation for short distances, and uses Normal, Eco, and Sport drive modes.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all trim levels, while front and rear parking assist with automated braking is limited to XLE and Limited.
- Infotainment: LE and XLE models come with an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa capability, Bluetooth, and Toyota Connected Services. The Limited adds a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a nine-speaker JBL audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates up to 40 mpg city, 37 highway, and 39 combined. The hybrid setup is designed to deliver strong efficiency without charging hassles.
Which 2022 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?
The 2022 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The LE gives you the core Venza experience, but it sticks with the smaller 8-inch touchscreen and 5-inch instrument cluster display, so it feels less upscale than the higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The XLE is the best value pick if you want more polish without going all the way to the top. It adds the 7-inch cluster display and gets you closer to the Venza’s premium feel.
- Premium/top trim: The Limited is the most luxurious choice, with the 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio system, navigation, and available advanced tech upgrades.
All trims include Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard across the lineup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 755 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.39% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 82.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,406.87, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Toyota Venza's resale value?
The current average of $28,886 sits slightly below last year's $29,898.
That softer pricing can work in your favor if you buy now, because you may be entering ownership at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, the current trend suggests the market has cooled a bit, so resale gains may be more modest than they were a year ago.
Even so, the Venza’s efficiency-focused appeal and upscale feel should help it stay attractive to used buyers who want comfort and fuel economy in one package. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza safe?
The 2022 Toyota Venza received a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded it five stars.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard on all trim levels.
XLE and Limited models add front and rear parking assist with automated braking, while Limited models also get fog lamps. That means the safety package is strong across the board, with the higher trims adding a bit more convenience and visibility support.
Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.39% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines a hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and a comfortable, upscale-feeling cabin.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,311, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $28,886 average.
- It offers a more premium-feeling hybrid crossover with standard all-wheel drive.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $33,463, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $28,886 average.
- It leans harder into style and efficiency with a more upscale cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, efficiency, and standard equipment, the 2022 is the smart default. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is worth a look for a lower entry cost, while the 2023 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer take on the same basic formula.
