CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Toyota Venza
overall

Summary
With 752 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,838.00, 31.6% of 2022 Toyota Venzas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Toyota Venza 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
81.6% of 2022 Venza models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Venza stands out by blending wagon-like proportions with crossover SUV practicality, giving it a shape and identity that feels a little different from the usual midsize two-row SUV. It also comes with a hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain and standard all-wheel drive, which helps define it as an efficiency-focused choice rather than a conventional gas-only family hauler.
That focus on efficiency is one of its biggest strengths. The Venza uses a 2.5-liter gas engine, an electric motor, and a continuously variable automatic transmission, and the EPA estimates it can achieve up to 40 mpg city, 37 highway, and 39 combined fuel economy. It also starts at $33,240 and is offered in three trim levels. Beyond the numbers, the available information points to a comfortable, quiet, and smooth-driving vehicle with a luxurious-feeling interior, while owners also praise its fuel efficiency. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the technology can be unintuitive, the design may be polarizing, and cargo space is limited.

The Venza looks more Lexus-like, inside and out. I was very impressed with how quiet and comfortable the interior was. I like the fuel consumption of this new generation of hybrid and the higher sitting position. I looked at an XLE, which had good safety tech and decent upgrades over the LE. Disappointed that the panoramic sunroof is only available on the Limited trim. I think Toyota should include a conventional sunroof/moonroof that opens on at least the XLE. I would buy one if the markets pricing was normal.

We love our Toyota Venza! Its user friendly, has great visibility and maneuverability. Spacious, yet not too big. Great gas milage being a hybrid. Just need to get used to the quiet ignition noise- you forget its on! Weve been happy with this car for our 16 yer old driver.

Wonderful car, even considering the price tag. Extremely posh interior, thoughtful tech and safety features, beautiful design, drives pleasantly. Not for racing enthusiasts. A vehicle for those who want to keep their blood pressure under control.

Is the 2022 Toyota Venza a good car?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to live with over time, especially if you value comfort and efficiency. The hybrid setup is described as transparent in operation and requires no special attention, which supports confidence for long-term ownership. Toyota’s shared-platform engineering also suggests a practical ownership experience, with parts and service support likely to be straightforward. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the powertrain and more about whether the vehicle has been maintained well and used in a way that preserves its condition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and interior electronics. Because this model is praised for comfort and efficiency, condition matters a lot: a neglected example can erase much of the appeal.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LE and XLE come with an eight-inch touchscreen, while the Limited upgrades to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a nine-speaker JBL audio system. The Limited also adds a head-up display and rain-sensing windshield wipers with the available Advanced Technology Package, while the LE uses a 5-inch instrument cluster display and the XLE and Limited use a 7-inch screen.
- Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine with electric motors for a combined 219 horsepower. The hybrid setup is tuned for efficiency, with EV operation for short distances and drive modes that let you tailor the balance of gas and electric power.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all trim levels, while front and rear parking assist with automated braking is reserved for XLE and Limited models.
- Infotainment: The LE and XLE use an eight-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and Toyota Connected Services. The Limited gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and the JBL audio upgrade.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates up to 40 mpg city, 37 highway, and 39 combined fuel economy.
Which 2022 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?
The 2022 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the value-focused choice if you want the Venza’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get the hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, blind-spot monitoring, and the eight-inch touchscreen, so it covers the essentials well.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top price. You gain the 7-inch instrument display and front and rear parking assist with automated braking, which makes it a smart middle ground if you want more equipment and easier day-to-day use.
- Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale Venza experience. It brings the 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, navigation, and available Advanced Technology Package features like the head-up display and rain-sensing wipers.
Front and rear parking assist with automated braking is standard on XLE and Limited, so that safety convenience step-up is worth noting if you’re comparing trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 758 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.05% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 82.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,413.09, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Toyota Venza's resale value?
The current average of $28,840 sits slightly below last year's $29,748.
That kind of softening can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to price more competitively to stand out. The current market suggests the Venza is holding value reasonably well, but not so tightly that you should expect a strong premium on resale. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza safe?
The 2022 Toyota Venza received a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded it five stars.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all trim levels, and front and rear parking assist with automated braking is added on XLE and Limited models. The standard safety equipment is broad, and the Venza’s top-tier crash results reinforce that it should be a reassuring choice for family use.
Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.05% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines hybrid efficiency with standard all-wheel drive and a refined, upscale feel.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,355, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $28,840 average.
- It offers a more premium-feeling hybrid crossover with standard all-wheel drive.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $33,422, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $28,840 average.
- It leans harder into style and efficiency with a more upscale cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, efficiency, and available inventory, the 2022 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money while keeping the same basic appeal. If you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2023 is the step-up to compare.
