Used 2022 Toyota 4Runner for Sale near Florida

How much does the 2022 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 2.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,462 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.78/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, ruggedness, and spacious interior. The user feedback also points to strong off-road performance and a vehicle that feels dependable over time.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy, sluggish performance, and an outdated interior. That makes it a better fit if you value capability and straightforward utility over refinement.

The 2022 4Runner is especially appealing if you want an SUV that can handle family duties during the week and rougher terrain on the weekend. Even so, it remains a niche choice rather than a broadly polished one.

Good and great deals account for 35.8% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability, and the expert review also describes the V6 as reliable. That combination suggests the 4Runner is built to be counted on, especially if you want a truck-based SUV with a reputation for durability.

The powertrain is described as dated but dependable, and the overall ownership experience leans toward rugged longevity rather than cutting-edge sophistication. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is accepting older-tech compromises in exchange for that durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because the 4Runner’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether it has been used hard off-road. Focus on condition, wear, and any signs that the truck has lived a tougher life than the photos suggest.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 is the starting point and includes push-button start, remote keyless entry, a power-sliding rear window, satellite radio, multiple USB ports, a WiFi hotspot, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Premium SR5 adds HD radio, heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, and power-adjustable front seats. The Trail Special Edition adds 17-inch dark gray alloy wheels, a unique monotone paint scheme, a Yakima LoadWarrior cargo basket, a sliding rear cargo deck with under-floor storage, a 40-quart premium accessory cooler, and all-weather floor mats. The TRD Sport adds 20-inch wheels, X-REAS performance suspension, a TRD hood scoop, black roof rails, sport exterior badging, a chrome-accented multi-information display, synthetic leather upholstery, and TRD lettering in the headrests. The TRD Off-Road adds four-wheel drive, a locking rear differential, beefed-up skid plates, crawl control, active traction control, and a terrain management system. The TRD Off-Road Premium adds synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and additional driver assistance features. The TRD Pro adds enhanced shock absorbers, a 15-speaker JBL premium stereo system, a surround-view camera system, an off-road camera system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a moonroof. The Limited adds 20-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and X-REAS sport suspension.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. It is described as reliable and decent off the line, but underwhelming in most other driving situations.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P includes forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree surround-view parking camera system are extra, and the TRD Pro also adds an off-road camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and multiple USB ports. You cannot upgrade to a larger screen, but navigation, HD radio, and a 15-speaker JBL premium audio system are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4Runner returns 16 mpg city, 19 highway, and 17 combined.

Which 2022 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Trail Special Edition, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the core 4Runner experience with standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen, and Toyota Safety Sense P. If you want the lowest-cost path into the model, this is the trim to start with.
• Trail Special Edition: This trim adds adventure-focused cargo gear, unique styling, and the sliding rear cargo deck, making it a good fit if you want a more distinctive 4Runner with practical trail-friendly touches.
• TRD Sport: This is the road-oriented choice, with X-REAS performance suspension and a more aggressive appearance package. It suits you if you want a 4Runner that leans a little more toward pavement use.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the best-value trim for buyers who want the 4Runner’s core off-road hardware, including 4WD, a locking rear differential, crawl control, skid plates, and terrain management. It is the trim to target if capability matters most.
• TRD Pro: This is the most trail-focused and feature-rich version, adding enhanced shocks, a JBL premium stereo, surround-view and off-road cameras, dual-zone climate control, and a moonroof. Choose it if you want the most equipment and the strongest off-road setup.
• Limited: This is the most road-oriented upscale trim, with leather, heated and ventilated front seats, parking sensors, and X-REAS suspension. It makes sense if you want comfort and convenience over trail hardware.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, but blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and the surround-view camera system are not standard on every trim.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,462 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.53% compared with last year.

What is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $39,383 sits slightly below last year's $40,407.

That tells you the market has eased, which can help you as a buyer but may temper short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the 4Runner’s reputation for durability and loyal demand helps support values better than many mainstream SUVs.

Because the price trend is down, a future seller may need to be realistic about timing and condition to maximize return. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and clean history should still attract attention, especially from shoppers who want a rugged SUV with a strong reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, with forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view parking camera system require extra spend, and the TRD Pro adds an off-road camera system.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends rugged capability with modern infotainment and standard safety tech.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,805, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $39,383 average.
• It emphasizes rugged utility and reliability over refinement.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $43,608, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $39,383 average.
• It adds standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and the 4Runner’s core strengths, the 2022 is the smart default. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money, while the 2023 makes sense if you want the added safety equipment and are willing to pay more.
