Is the 2022 Lincoln Navigator a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated SUV with an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

The 2022 Navigator is positioned as a full-size luxury SUV with classically elegant styling, robust towing capacity, and soothing comfort in all three rows of seats. It also brings a refreshed design and updated technology that help keep it competitive against newer rivals.

The main trade-offs are the grille design, which may not appeal to everyone, and the interior chrome, which is considered excessive. Voice recognition also needs fine-tuning.

With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Lincoln Navigator reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Navigator’s updates focus on comfort, technology, safety, and driving dynamics, which supports its appeal as a well-rounded luxury SUV. Its twin-turbo V6, 10-speed automatic, and available four-wheel drive give it the kind of robust hardware you’d want in a large vehicle built for serious use.

The infotainment system also gets a meaningful update, and the voice recognition is described as better than before, even if it still isn’t perfect. Lincoln’s ownership perks, including valet service for maintenance, add a practical ownership benefit.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is the complexity that comes with a large, highly equipped luxury SUV, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lincoln Navigator?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a large luxury SUV with advanced tech and driver-assistance systems. Focus on overall condition, signs of heavy use, and whether the features you care about are working as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Standard, Reserve, and Black Label are the trims explicitly called out here, and the base setup still leaves room for meaningful equipment differences.
• Powertrain: The twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 makes 440 horsepower and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive depending on configuration.
• Safety package: New driver-assistance systems include Intersection Assist, Road Edge Detection, Active Park Assist 2.0, ActiveGlide, and a surround-view camera system, with ActiveGlide limited to approved highways.
• Infotainment: The 13.2-inch Sync 4 touchscreen supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The Navigator 4WD should return 18 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 18.6 mpg.

Which 2022 Lincoln Navigator trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator is offered in 3 trim levels: Standard, Reserve, and Black Label.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Navigator experience with the refreshed styling, the new 13.2-inch Sync 4 touchscreen, and the SUV’s strong comfort-and-capability formula.
• Reserve: This is the best-value trim if you want a more upscale balance of equipment and luxury without jumping all the way to the top.
• Black Label: This is the most luxurious choice, and the review vehicle’s Central Park theme shows how far Lincoln can push the cabin presentation and premium feel.

The safety package adds Intersection Assist, Road Edge Detection, Active Park Assist 2.0, ActiveGlide, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lincoln Navigator?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,100 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.76% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $47,114, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lincoln Navigator's resale value?

The current average of $47,114 sits slightly below last year's $55,929.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the Navigator easier to purchase now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means you should expect pricing pressure if you need to move the vehicle quickly.

The good news is that the Navigator’s strong luxury appeal, comfort, and technology help support demand among shoppers who want a large premium SUV. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lincoln Navigator safe?

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Several new driver assistance systems debut on the 2022 Lincoln Navigator. They include Intersection Assist, Road Edge Detection, Active Park Assist 2.0, and ActiveGlide. A surround-view camera system is also newly standard for the SUV.

ActiveGlide is Lincoln’s hands-free driving technology for approved highways, but it still requires your attention at all times. The system works well within its limits, though it can disengage on tighter curves and does not replace active driver supervision.

Should I buy a 2022 Lincoln Navigator or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 refresh updates styling, comfort, technology, safety, and driving dynamics.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,611, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $47,114 average.
• It delivers a quieter, more traditional full-size luxury feel.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $54,784, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $47,114 average.
• It emphasizes spacious third-row comfort and impressive technology.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed version with updated tech and safety, the 2022 is the smart target. If price matters most, the 2021 is the value play; if you want to spend more for a newer model-year step, the 2023 is the alternative.
