Used 2022 Lexus IS for Sale nearNew Haven, CT

How much does the 2022 Lexus IS cost?

Prices have softened 2.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 902 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Lexus IS earns 5/5 from owners and 8.17/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, quiet ride, and reliable performance, and many also like the powerful V6 and all-wheel drive. The expert notes reinforce the appeal for drivers who want a compact luxury sedan that feels engaging rather than merely polished, with easy-to-use technology and standard advanced safety features.

The trade-offs are clear: not much cargo space, a noisy demeanor, and poor value for money. Even so, if you want a luxury sedan that leans into driving enjoyment and a strong feature set, this model year fits that brief well.

Listings with good or great deals make up 38.1% of the market, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliable performance, and it also describes the car as a joy to drive with a quiet ride and a luxurious feel. The expert notes add that the IS 500 delivers the comfort, quality, and dependability you’d expect from Lexus, which supports the case for solid day-to-day ownership.

Lexus also includes a strong standard safety and tech package, which can help reduce ownership stress over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the specific car has been maintained well and lived an easy life.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear, electronics, and any signs of hard use, especially if you’re considering a higher-performance example. Pay close attention to condition, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium trim adds triple-beam headlights, a navigation system, a surround-view monitoring system, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system, and a power rear window shade, while the standard setup already includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM satellite radio.
• Powertrain: The IS 500 F Sport Performance uses a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 with 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. It also includes drive modes, a limited-slip differential, adaptive variable suspension, and a Yamaha rear performance damper.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models, with lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, and collision-prevention technologies. Some functions can be overly aggressive in certain situations.
• Infotainment: The car uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Premium trim adds a 10.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The IS 500 averaged 17.7 mpg during evaluation and was rated at 20 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Lexus IS trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lexus IS is offered in 1 trim level: IS 500 F Sport Performance.

Here's the short version:

The IS 500 F Sport Performance is the one to buy if you want the full performance experience, including the V8, rear-wheel drive, and the most distinctive driving character in the lineup. It also brings the strongest emotional appeal, with the expert notes calling out its thrilling engine note, strong road manners, and impressive standard equipment. If you want the best-value path, the Premium trim is the smart pick because it adds the navigation system, surround-view monitor, and Mark Levinson audio without changing the car’s core personality.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus IS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 902 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,254, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $37,551 sits slightly below last year's $38,324.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy with less risk of immediate overpayment. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, so condition and mileage will matter a lot when it’s time to trade or list the car.

Strong demand can still support resale if you keep the car clean, well maintained, and properly documented. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS safe?

The 2022 Lexus IS earns Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, with a four-star frontal-impact rating for the driver and front passenger and a five-star rollover rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models, bringing lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, collision warning, and collision-prevention technologies. The expert notes also call out that the system can be overly aggressive in some situations, including curve-speed reduction and low-speed automatic braking.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds the IS 500 F Sport Performance, bringing a 5.0-liter V8 and a major performance boost.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $34,656, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $37,551 average.
• It launched the fourth-generation IS with a sharper focus on style and driving enjoyment.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of performance, safety, and owner satisfaction, the 2022 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 can still make sense, especially if you value the redesign and can live without the 2022’s added performance halo.
