Used 2022 Lexus GX for Sale near New Jersey

How much does the 2022 Lexus GX cost?

Prices have softened 3.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,176 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Lexus GX a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.7/5, and the expert rating is 4.2/10. The standout strength is Performance at 6/10.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, reliability, and comfort, while also liking the spacious interior and stylish design. For you, that means the GX makes the most sense if you want a rugged luxury SUV with a traditional body-on-frame feel, strong towing ability, and a clear focus on capability over modern crossover polish. The market also shows 36.6% of listings as good or great deals, which supports a selective but workable shopping environment.

Is the 2022 Lexus GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for its long-term durability and the sense that you can count on it. The expert evaluation reinforces that reputation by describing the GX as having a reputation for bulletproof reliability.

That said, long-term ownership risk for used buyers is tied more to age, fuel use, and outdated tech than to core dependability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a proper inspection. Pay close attention to wear, interior condition, and how the vehicle has been used, especially if it has seen off-road duty or heavy towing. Since the GX is built around older-school hardware, condition matters a lot more than flashy features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX 460 is available in Standard, Premium, and Luxury trim, and the base setup is the most stripped-down of the three. The cabin quality is strong, but the feature gap grows as you move up the lineup, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want more convenience and luxury.
• Powertrain: The GX uses a 4.6-liter V8 with 301 horsepower, a six-speed automatic transmission, and full-time 4WD. It is tuned more for torque, towing, and refinement than quick acceleration, and its fuel economy is a weak point.
• Safety package: Standard Lexus Safety System+ includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. It also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safety Connect with automatic collision notification and emergency calling. Some common modern driver aids are not included.
• Infotainment: The GX has a 10.3-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and navigation. It also offers a dual-screen view, excellent voice recognition, and standard front and rear parking sensors.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA fuel economy estimate is 16 mpg in combined driving, and the GX returned 16.8 mpg on the test loop.

Which 2022 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lexus GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Standard, Premium, and Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the GX’s core appeal: V8 power, full-time 4WD, and the rugged character that defines the model. It makes sense if you want the GX experience at the lowest price and do not need extra luxury or off-road add-ons.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it builds on the base setup with a more appealing equipment mix while staying below the top trim. It is also the trim that Lexus uses for the Black Line Special Edition, which adds a more distinctive look.
• Luxury: This is the trim to target if you want the most upscale GX and plan to add the Off-Road Package. That package is available only on Luxury and adds Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, skid plates, improved drivetrain cooling, and extra cameras for off-road use.

If you want the most capable version for backcountry use, the Luxury trim with the Off-Road Package is the one to look for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus GX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,176 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $46,800, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $46,844 sits slightly below last year's $48,759.

That price movement suggests the GX has softened, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the market is still valuing the GX as a niche, capability-first SUV rather than a broadly in-demand luxury crossover. Its age and fuel economy keep pressure on pricing, but its reputation and loyal audience help support demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus GX safe?

The Lexus GX has no crash-test ratings to consult.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard Lexus Safety System+ includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. You also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safety Connect with automatic collision notification and emergency calling. The main caveat is that the GX lacks several modern driver-assistance features that are increasingly common in newer luxury SUVs.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a new 10.3-inch touchscreen and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $41,051, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $46,844 average.
• It offers minor updates and a simpler, more old-school GX experience.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $54,509, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $46,844 average.
• It keeps the V8 appeal while leaning harder into rugged, traditional SUV character.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and availability, the 2022 is the smart default. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the value play; if you want to spend more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the alternative.
