Is the 2022 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Soul’s overview points to a practical, value-focused design with useful equipment and everyday convenience, which are traits that usually matter most in long-term ownership. It also notes that some years have reliability and recall concerns, so you should make sure any recall work has been completed before you buy. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term risk is skipping the paperwork and inspection that confirm the car has been properly maintained and repaired.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Soul?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with the history report to confirm accident status and check whether recall work has been completed. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can evaluate the car’s condition, especially if it has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on signs of wear that could affect daily usability, since the Soul’s appeal is tied closely to its practicality and value.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.23% compared with last year.

What is the 2022 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $14,760 sits slightly below last year's $16,083.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, the softer pricing means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and documentation than on broad market momentum. If you keep the car clean, well maintained, and backed by a clear history report, you give yourself a better chance of standing out later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $13,931, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $14,760 average.
• It keeps the Soul’s useful shape while adding practical updates.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $17,180, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $14,760 average.
• It adds more standard driver-assist features and a revised trim lineup.

The bottom line:

The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of value, space, and equipment without paying the newer-year premium. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the better secondary path because it costs less while keeping the Soul’s core practicality intact.
