Is the 2022 Kia EV6 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia EV6 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, smooth ride, and powerful performance, and many also like the advanced safety features and spacious interior. On the expert side, it stands out for its fresh styling, impressive technology, and fun-to-drive character.

With 42.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding one that fits your budget.

Is the 2022 Kia EV6 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels smooth, dependable, and pleasant to drive, with several drivers highlighting the EV6 as a vehicle they enjoy living with day to day. The expert evaluation also emphasizes how well the EV6 integrates its electric drivetrain and technology, which supports the sense that it is built to be a modern, confidence-inspiring EV.

The cost-effectiveness review also notes that you should charge at home every day if you plan to own one, which is a useful reminder that real-world ownership depends heavily on your charging routine. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about traditional mechanical wear and more about whether the battery and charging behavior still match your driving needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia EV6?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing cars with different charging habits or mileage patterns. Focus on battery condition, charging performance, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging. If possible, verify how the car has been driven in cold weather, since range can drop noticeably in those conditions.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Light trim is the least equipped and is paired with the smallest battery and undersized single motor, while higher trims add more useful equipment and capability. The Wind RWD is the better starting point, and the Wind AWD adds more hardware and camera coverage. The GT-Line brings the most upscale equipment and the most advanced driver-assistance content.
• Powertrain: The EV6 is offered with single-motor and dual-motor setups, including rear-wheel drive and e-AWD. The single-motor versions use the larger battery with 225 hp, while the dual-motor GT-Line makes 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque. The base Light has 167 hp and 258 lb-ft, which is the least appealing setup.
• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on the Light trim and includes lane-keeping, cyclist and pedestrian detection, front and rear cross-traffic alert, a driver attention monitor, rear parking sensors, safe exit warning, and rear occupant alert. Front parking sensors come on the Wind RWD, the Wind AWD adds automatic rear braking and 360 cameras, and the GT-Line adds evasive steering assist and machine-learning adaptive cruise behavior.
• Infotainment: The EV6 uses dual 12-inch screens, and the system includes navigation, a wireless charger, and connectivity features. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included; the projection systems require a wired connection. Higher trims can add a 14-speaker Meridian stereo and remote parking.
• Range & charging: The EV6 is described as having a 274-mile EPA estimate, and the test car used a 77-kWh battery. It can accept up to 240 kW DC fast charging, and the test car went from 15 to 80 percent in 35 minutes under real-world conditions.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health carefully and ask how the car has been charged over time. A used EV is usually best when it has spent most of its life on home charging with occasional DC fast charging, rather than repeated fast-charge-heavy use. Also confirm how much of the battery warranty remains so you know how much coverage you still have if capacity drops.

Which 2022 Kia EV6 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia EV6 is offered in 4 trim levels: Light, Wind RWD, Wind AWD, GT-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Light: This is the least expensive way into the EV6, but it is also the least compelling because it pairs the smallest battery with the weakest motor. It makes sense only if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable giving up range and performance.
• Wind RWD: This is the best-value choice because it starts at a more sensible point in the lineup and gets the larger battery with the higher-output single-motor setup. It’s the trim to target if you want the EV6 experience without paying for the most expensive equipment.
• Wind AWD: Choose this if you want the added traction and the extra safety hardware, including automatic rear braking and 360 cameras. It’s the better pick if you live in a tougher climate or want more confidence in bad weather.
• GT-Line: This is the most feature-rich version, with the strongest mix of style, tech, and driver-assistance upgrades. It suits you best if you want the EV6 at its most premium and don’t mind paying more for it.

The safety package starts with Highway Driving Assist on the Light trim and expands as you move up the lineup.

What is the 2022 Kia EV6's resale value?

The current average of $22,597 sits slightly below last year's $24,893.

That price movement suggests the EV6 has already absorbed some of its early depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. If you buy at the right price now and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the original market peak. The key for resale will be maintaining battery health, keeping mileage reasonable, and preserving the car’s clean-condition appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The GT-Line adds evasive steering assist and machine-learning adaptive cruise behavior.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia EV6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 42.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 stands out as Kia’s first ground-up EV, with especially strong style, tech, and charging-time appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the EV6’s freshest design and a market that currently favors buyers, the 2022 is a strong place to start. If you’re shopping mainly on price, you can use the softened market to your advantage and focus on the best-equipped trim you can afford, with the Wind RWD as the most balanced target for many shoppers.
