How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Prices have softened 12.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating, which points to strong overall appeal. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its luxury features, spaciousness, and driving experience, and they also like the engine’s power and the stylish design. The overview and test-drive notes reinforce that this is a three-row SUV with a premium cabin, polished road manners, and modern convenience features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine feels underpowered, and the vehicle can be noisy under acceleration. That means you should be especially attentive if you want a quieter, more effortless daily driver.

For shoppers who want a family SUV with upscale materials and a more refined feel than Jeep’s traditional image suggests, this model fits well. The market also shows 35.5% good or great deals, so there are meaningful opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for the SUV’s luxury features, spaciousness, and driving experience. That kind of feedback matters for used buyers because it suggests people are happy living with the vehicle over time, not just on a short test drive.

The expert notes also support that impression by describing the Grand Cherokee L as a composed, well-crafted SUV with strong ride quality and a premium cabin. Jeep’s three years of service and Jeep Wave benefits add a little extra ownership reassurance.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well, since a premium, feature-rich SUV can be costly if neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping higher-mileage examples or vehicles with lots of technology. Focus on cabin condition, seat comfort, screen operation, and whether the vehicle feels quiet and composed on the road.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Laredo gets six-speaker or nine-speaker no-name stereos, while higher trims add more upscale materials and features such as black roofs, larger wheels, more chrome, and richer interior appointments.
• Powertrain: Two familiar engines are available: a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter V8, both paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The V6 is described as wanting on a vehicle this heavy, while the V8 brings stronger performance.
• Safety package: Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors come standard. Automatic parking, front cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitor, and traffic sign recognition are standard on the Summit trims and optional on the Overland.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Jeep offers an optional 10.3-inch passenger display plus optional dual 10.1-inch rear-seat touchscreens with Amazon Fire TV.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns an EPA-estimated 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The V8 is rated at 14 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 5 trim levels: Laredo, Overland, Summit, Summit Reserve, and Overland with the Off-Road Group.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee L’s core three-row packaging and upscale look without chasing luxury extras. It’s the trim to consider if you’re trying to keep the purchase price in check.
• Overland: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the off-road-focused setup with all-terrain tires when paired with the Off-Road Group, and it’s the only trim that earns the Jeep Trail-Rated badge. It also adds the kind of capability-minded hardware that makes the Grand Cherokee L feel more distinct.
• Summit: This trim leans into the luxury side with features like automatic parking, front cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitor, and traffic sign recognition. It’s a strong pick if you want more convenience and safety tech.
• Summit Reserve: This is the most upscale choice, with the 19-speaker McIntosh stereo and the richest feature set in the lineup. It suits you if you want the most premium version and are willing to pay for it.
• Overland with the Off-Road Group: This is the trim to choose if you care most about trail capability, since it adds all-terrain tires and the hardware that helps the Grand Cherokee L stand apart from typical family SUVs.

Safety-package note: adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors come standard, while some advanced driver aids move up the trim ladder.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $27,342 sits slightly below last year's $31,285.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the vehicle easier to purchase now but may also mean sellers need to price competitively. If you buy at the right number, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average.

For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, because premium SUVs tend to hold demand better when they present cleanly and feel well maintained. The current price trend also shows that shoppers are still comparing value carefully, so condition and equipment will matter.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Driver and passenger knee airbags come standard, as do a rear seat alert for possible unattended passengers and trailer sway control.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It pairs premium interior materials with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a composed ride.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,496, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $27,342 average.
• It introduced the three-row Grand Cherokee L and brought the brand a family-focused option with added passenger capacity.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $30,642, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $27,342 average.
• It adds higher prices while keeping the comfort-focused three-row formula.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and market availability, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while still delivering the core three-row Grand Cherokee L experience. If you’re willing to spend more, the 2023 may appeal, but you’ll want to be sure the extra cost is worth it for your needs.
