Used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L for Sale near California

How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Prices have softened 12.36% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,688 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns a 4.33/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal with some clear compromises. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its luxury features, spaciousness, and driving experience, and they also like the engine’s power and the stylish design. The overview and test-drive notes reinforce that this is a three-row SUV with premium interior materials, a polished cabin, and a ride quality that stands out.

The trade-offs are just as clear: the base engine feels underpowered, and the vehicle is noisy under acceleration. That means you should pay close attention to how it feels on your usual roads, especially if you plan to carry passengers often or want a quieter commute.

With 37.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for its luxury features, spaciousness, and driving experience, plus a reputation for being enjoyable to live with over time.

The test-drive notes support that impression by emphasizing the SUV’s composed chassis and strong ride quality, which are the kinds of traits that usually make daily ownership feel easier and more predictable. Jeep also covers three years of service and offers other benefits through Jeep Wave, which adds some ownership value.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium, feature-rich SUV can be more expensive to keep in top shape if prior maintenance was neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if it looks clean on paper. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, electronics, and cabin features, since this model leans heavily on technology and premium equipment. Focus on condition details that matter in a family SUV: seat wear, infotainment behavior, and whether the vehicle feels quiet and well sorted on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin and exterior get more upscale as you move up, with the loaded trims adding black roofs, larger wheels, more chrome, real wood, aluminum, quilted Nappa leather, and a faux-suede roof. The base trim is less lavish, so you should compare interior materials and equipment carefully if you want the premium feel this SUV is known for.
• Powertrain: Two familiar engines are available: a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter V8, both paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The V6 returns 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the V8 is rated at 14/22/17.
• Safety package: Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors come standard. Automatic parking, front cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitor, and traffic sign recognition are standard on the Summit trims and optional on the Overland, so lower trims miss some of the more advanced convenience and safety tech.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and Jeep offers an optional 10.3-inch passenger display plus optional dual 10.1-inch rear touchscreens with Amazon Fire TV. The system can also connect two phones at once.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the V8 is rated at 14/22/17.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 5 trim levels: Laredo, Overland, Summit, Summit Reserve, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee L’s space and core character at the lowest price. It gives you the basic three-row formula, but you should expect fewer luxury touches than the upper trims.
• Overland: This is the best-value trim if you want a more premium feel without jumping all the way to the top. It can add the Off-Road Group, and that package brings all-terrain tires and the Trail-Rated badge, which makes it the trim to target if you want more capability.
• Summit: This trim is where the SUV starts leaning hard into luxury and advanced tech. It adds features like automatic parking, front cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitor, and traffic sign recognition, making it a strong choice if you want a more fully equipped daily driver.
• Summit Reserve: This is the most upscale choice, with the 19-speaker McIntosh stereo and the richest interior presentation. It suits you best if you want the most premium version and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that the more advanced driver-assistance and convenience features are concentrated in the upper trims, with some items optional on Overland and standard on Summit models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,688 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.36% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,568, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $27,568 sits slightly below last year's $31,456.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation. Higher-trim examples with desirable equipment may hold buyer interest better than stripped-down versions.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

The 2022 Grand Cherokee L has not yet been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes driver and passenger knee airbags, a rear seat alert for possible unattended passengers, trailer sway control, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add more advanced features such as automatic parking, front cross-traffic alert, driver attention monitor, and traffic sign recognition, while some of those items remain optional on the Overland.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds a more polished, upscale feel with premium materials and strong ride quality.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,698, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $27,568 average.
• It introduced Jeep’s first three-row SUV in years.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $30,830, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $27,568 average.
• It keeps the comfort-first formula while facing higher prices and newer rivals.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and upscale appeal, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while delivering the same basic three-row Jeep idea. If you want the newest version and are willing to pay more, the 2023 is the path to take.
