How much does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson cost?

Prices have softened 10.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,844 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.82/5 user-rated SUV with an 8.33/10 expert score. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, excellent safety features, stylish design, comfort, and spacious interior. Those strengths line up well with the Tucson’s practical mission: it’s aimed at buyers who want a roomy compact SUV that feels well equipped and easy to live with.

The main trade-offs are the fairly pedestrian performance and the underwhelming base engine. Even so, the Tucson’s comfort, space, and safety equipment make it a strong fit if you value everyday usefulness over excitement.

With 37.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they’re extremely satisfied with their Tucson over time.

The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by emphasizing the Tucson’s competent, easygoing nature and its strong everyday usability. Hyundai also includes complimentary normal oil changes and tire rotations for 3 years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about choosing a well-maintained example with the right equipment and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any Tucson you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re shopping a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment, and pay close attention to interior wear, electronics, and signs of uneven maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gets standard LED daytime running lights, Bi-LED headlights, LED front turn signals, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and cloth seats. Higher trims add features such as roof rails, heated outside mirrors with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic avoidance assist indicators and turn signals, a panoramic sunroof, and leather-trimmed seating.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, or a turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid setup with 226 total system horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is the most fuel-efficient setup for the gas model, while the hybrid is the efficiency leader overall.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Available upgrades include blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, and remote parking assist.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, two USB ports, and a six-speaker audio system. A 10.25-inch screen is available, but it requires a wired connection for smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas model is rated at 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined with front-wheel drive, or 24 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined with all-wheel drive. The hybrid returns 37 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined, with the most efficient version rated at 38 mpg city/highway/combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Blue, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you the Tucson’s standard safety tech, wireless smartphone integration, and the roomy new cabin layout. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra convenience features found higher up.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like satellite radio, Blue Link app compatibility, rear USB outlets, rear air vents, and dual-zone automatic climate control with ionizer functionality. It also unlocks the Convenience Package, which brings many features from the top trim for less money.
• Blue: This trim is the efficiency-minded choice if you want the hybrid powertrain. It keeps the Tucson’s practical strengths while pairing them with the strongest fuel economy in the lineup.
• Limited: This is the most upscale gas-model choice, with premium fascias, front and rear skid plates, gloss black pillars, a panoramic sunroof, and leather-trimmed seating. It suits you best if you want the most premium Tucson experience without stepping into a separate performance or plug-in variant.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but some of the more advanced driver-assistance features remain optional rather than standard on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,844 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,184, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

The current average of $20,184 sits slightly below last year's $22,481.

That price movement suggests the Tucson has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you purchase near the current market average or below it, you reduce the risk of taking the steepest early-value hit.

Strong demand for roomy, well-equipped compact SUVs should also help keep the Tucson relevant with used shoppers. A well-kept example with the right features and a clean history should be easier to move later than one with visible wear or a weak service record.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Hyundai SmartSense Safety Feature suite includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Available upgrades add blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, forward and reverse park distance warning, parking collision avoidance assist, and remote parking assist.

That’s a very broad safety roster for the class, and it’s one of the Tucson’s biggest strengths. The main caveat is that the vehicle has not been tested and rated by IIHS or NHTSA in the provided data.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned model brings a roomier cabin, a high-tech interior, and strong standard safety equipment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,268, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $20,184 average.
• It offers strong value, tech, and safety for shoppers who want a lower entry price.

The bottom line: If you want the newer design, more space, and a stronger tech-and-safety story, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up the redesign, the 2021 is the smarter budget alternative.
