Used 2022 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 13.14% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,858 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, large cargo area, helpful safety features, and powerful engine. They also highlight comfortable seating and the kind of everyday usability that makes this SUV appealing for family duty.

The trade-offs are familiar: the ride can feel noisy, the body can float over uneven pavement, and the interior materials do not feel especially upscale. Even so, the Traverse fits well if you want a roomy, approachable three-row SUV with easy-to-use features rather than a truck-based alternative.

A healthy 35.5% of listings are marked as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV with strong everyday usability, a spacious cabin, and a powertrain that owners trust. The expert evaluation also describes it as a practical family hauler with a capable V6 and straightforward controls that support low-stress ownership.

Chevrolet also makes ownership easier with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Teen Driver technology to help monitor younger drivers. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle was maintained well and used in a way that avoided wear from family hauling.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Traverse?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same as problem-free listings. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the suspension, cabin condition, and any signs of heavy family use or neglected maintenance. It also makes sense to confirm that the features you want are actually present, since equipment varies by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS starts at $33,700 and is the entry point for the lineup, while the RS, Premier, and High Country sit higher up with more upscale equipment. The Traverse’s styling is a strength, but the cabin materials are a mixed bag, so higher trims may matter more if you want a richer feel.
• Powertrain: Every Traverse uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and a nine-speed automatic transmission. It is the only engine choice, and it is tuned for everyday family use rather than maximum efficiency.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all trims and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following-distance indicator. The optional Safety Package on the LS adds rear parking assist sensors, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert; those features are standard on all other trims.
• Infotainment: LS and LT Cloth models get a 7-inch touchscreen, while other versions get an 8-inch high-definition display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also supports Bluetooth for two smartphones, connected services, and a WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD model is rated at 20 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 20.9 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but the available information emphasizes the Traverse’s value more than this trim specifically. If you are shopping strictly on price, it gets you into the model, but you should compare it carefully against the better-equipped trims because the Traverse’s appeal is largely about space and useful tech.
• LS: This is the trim to start with if you want the most straightforward path into the lineup. It keeps the Traverse’s core strengths intact, and the optional Safety Package makes it a smarter pick if you want blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert without moving up the ladder.
• LT Cloth: This trim is the practical middle ground if you want more equipment than the LS without jumping too far in price. It also gets the larger infotainment screen, which helps make the Traverse’s easy-to-use tech feel more modern.
• LT Leather: This is the better choice if you want a more upscale cabin without going all the way to the top trims. It is also the trim where some of the higher-end safety upgrades can be added, which makes it a strong value if you want comfort and available driver assistance.
• RS: This is the style-forward pick, with blacked-out trim and a sportier appearance. It also brings standard adaptive cruise control and the higher-speed automatic emergency braking system, so it is a good fit if you want a more distinctive look and more advanced standard safety equipment.
• Premier: This is the best-value upscale choice if you want more luxury and convenience without paying for the top badge. It adds the digital instrumentation panel and the vibrating Safety Alert Seat, making it a strong step up for shoppers who want a more premium-feeling Traverse.
• High Country: This is the top trim for shoppers who want the most equipment and the most upscale presentation. It builds on the Premier’s strengths and is the trim to target if you want the Traverse at its most fully featured.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, but the optional Safety Package on the LS is worth paying attention to because it closes important feature gaps that other trims already cover.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,858 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.14% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,163, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $24,163 sits slightly below last year's $27,820.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The Traverse’s broad family appeal and practical packaging should still help it attract shoppers in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The Traverse gets top “Good” ratings in collision-related IIHS tests except in a new, more stringent side-impact test, where it rates “Acceptable.”

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following-distance indicator. The optional Safety Package on the LS adds rear parking assist sensors, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert, while those features are standard on the other trims.

A key caveat is that the Traverse does not offer a more advanced system with adaptive cruise control plus lane-centering assist. That means it covers the basics well, but it does not reach the most sophisticated end of the driver-assistance spectrum.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus standard Chevy Safety Assist across the lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,806, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $24,163 average.
• It is a roomy three-row crossover with strong family-hauling practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more current version of the Traverse, the 2022 is the cleaner pick. If your priority is saving money and you can live with fewer features, the 2021 is the value play.
