How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cost?

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.3/5 from owners and a 7.5/10 from our experts. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners repeatedly praise its powerful engines, smooth rides, and good value for money, and they also call out comfort and fuel efficiency in positive terms. The refreshed cabin and available tech help it feel more modern, especially if you care about interior design and features. On the other hand, the old interior design remains in WT and Custom trims, and Google Built-in is not necessarily better than the previous setup.

For shoppers who want a full-size truck that can cover work, daily driving, and tech-heavy family use, the Silverado’s broad strengths make sense. 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with praise for its powerful engines, smooth rides, and comfort over time. Reviewers also describe it as good value for money, which usually lines up with a vehicle people feel they can count on. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Silverado’s refreshed interior and technology make it feel more complete than before.

Chevrolet’s maintenance perk language is not included in the source material, but the overall ownership picture still leans positive for used buyers. Your main long-term risk is choosing a truck with neglected maintenance or a trim that misses the updates you expected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a truck that may have seen towing, off-road use, or heavy daily work. Focus on cabin condition and feature content, since the refreshed interior is one of the biggest reasons to choose this model year.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans Work Truck, Double Cab, crew cab, and higher trims up to High Country, with the refreshed interior starting with LT and higher models. Base WT and Custom trims keep the older interior design, so you should check whether the cabin updates matter to you.
• Powertrain: The truck offers multiple powertrain options, including a standard turbocharged four-cylinder and a turbodiesel inline-six, with the ZR2 using a standard 6.2-liter V8. The source also notes that the turbodiesel gets a big bump in towing capacity.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all 2022 Silverado models, and blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades on lower trims. Teen Driver is included as well, and Super Cruise can be added on High Country.
• Infotainment: The Silverado uses a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google Built-in, SiriusXM with 360L, connected services, WiFi hotspot, and navigation. The system also brings a new UX, though the source notes it can be slower and less intuitive than before.
• Fuel efficiency: The source says owners had positive remarks about fuel efficiency, and it also describes the LT TrailBoss with the available turbodiesel as more efficient. No specific MPG figure is stated here.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Work Truck (WT), Custom, LT, LT TrailBoss, High Country, and Silverado ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck (WT): This is the most basic choice, and the source makes clear that it keeps the older interior design. Buy it only if price matters more than cabin updates and you’re comfortable with a more stripped-down truck.
• Custom: Like the WT, this trim keeps the older interior design, so it makes sense mainly if you want a lower entry price and can live without the refreshed cabin.
• LT: This is the first trim to get the new interior, including digital instrumentation and a widescreen infotainment touchscreen. It’s the best-value choice for most shoppers because it captures the biggest 2022 update without jumping into premium pricing.
• LT TrailBoss: If you want a more affordable, more efficient, and nearly as fun truck for tougher driving, this is the smart step up. The source specifically points to the available turbodiesel here as a strong value play.
• High Country: This is the luxury-leaning choice, and it’s the trim where you can add Super Cruise. Choose it if you want the most upscale Silverado experience and hands-free highway capability.
• Silverado ZR2: This is the off-road performance model, with standard 4WD, lifted suspension, skid plates, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and other trail-focused hardware. It’s the right pick if off-road capability matters more than towing, hauling, or outright power.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 18,250 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,601, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $33,601 sits slightly below last year's $37,367.

That price movement suggests the Silverado has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you shop carefully now, you may have less downside left than someone who bought when prices were higher. The truck’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially for well-equipped examples in good condition.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The 2022 Silverado Limited (LTD) got a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and earned unimpressive results in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all 2022 Silverado models, and it includes the basic driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features you’d expect on a modern truck. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades on lower trims, and Teen Driver is included on every Silverado. High Country buyers can add Super Cruise, which brings hands-free driving on approved highways with driver monitoring.

The main caveat is that crash-test data is unavailable for the updated 2022 Silverado, so you should pay close attention to the specific truck’s equipment and history. The source also notes that the refreshed model’s safety performance relative to the older Silverado Limited is unclear.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The refreshed cabin and available tech make this year feel much more modern.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,353, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,601 average.
• It offers broad appeal with multiple powertrains and body styles.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,290, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,601 average.
• It adds more power for the optional Duramax diesel and a new ZR2 Bison off-road trim.

The bottom line: If you want the most meaningful cabin and tech update, the 2022 is the better target. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can still make sense as a lower-cost path into the Silverado lineup. If you want newer-year upgrades and don’t mind paying more, the 2023 is the step up to consider.
