The Audi A5’s curves and swoops got a mild overhaul for 2021, making changes to the 2022 model less dramatic by comparison. The car is available as both a coupe and a convertible for the new model year, and there’s also a separate Sportback version with four doors. Audi’s updates to the car amount to a few new available options and a new appearance package for S-Line cars.

Six main A5 models are available for 2022. The A5 Coupe and Cabriolet (convertible) are each available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims. Beyond the four-door A5 Sportback, Audi will likely introduce sportier S5 and RS5 models, powered by red-hot turbocharged V6 engines and carrying track-ready performance equipment. Buyers may also consider cars such as the Lexus IS, the BMW 4-Series, or the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The 2022 A5 line is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine accompanied by a hybrid system. The car’s output now lands at 261 horsepower, compared to its predecessor’s 248 ponies. Standard all-wheel drive (AWD) keeps all four wheels turning when they’re needed to deliver the best traction and handling possible.

Starting north of $40,000, the A5 carries a premium price. Thankfully for buyers, it’s got a premium interior to match. Depending on the trim and options packages, the car can be equipped with upscale aluminum trim, soft leather upholstery, and an oh-so-nice leather-wrapped steering wheel. The A5’s center stack is capped off with a 10.1-inch touchscreen that runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Buyers can option in features like a premium Bang & Olufsen stereo and navigation.

Audi hasn’t announced an official on-sale date for the 2022 A5 in any of its configurations, but we expect to learn more later in 2021. The base A5 Premium Coupe starts at $45,545 after destination, while the Premium Cabriolet starts at $51,745. At the top end, the Prestige Coupe starts at $54,995 and the Prestige Cabriolet starts at $62,495.
