What’s New for the 2027 Audi A5
After its 2025 redesign and some technology upgrades for 2026, the 2027 A5 gets a simplified model lineup with just one trim. Last year’s Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims are gone, replaced by a single trim with more option packages. A new Sport Plus package has an S sport suspension and S Line exterior and interior treatments. The S Line Black Optic package can now get 20-inch wheels as well as the 19-inch wheels it offered last year. Other new options include a Driver Assistance package, an Executive package, and a Vorsprung package that combines the Driver Assistance and Executive packages and adds more features. Finally, for 2027, the A5 comes with three years or 30,000 miles of complimentary maintenance.
Design
Audi markets the A5 as a sedan, but it’s actually a hatchback—or Sportback in Audi-speak. Looking very similar to the larger A6 sedan, the A5 is an attractive car with squinting, slit-like LED headlights (available with a matrix LED design) that point toward a wide, trapezoidal grille with a hexagonal mesh. The grille is bracketed by triangular air intakes, and another intake sits below it. The flanks sport subtly flared haunches at the wheels and a rising character line that adds a dynamic look. At the rear, a full-width LED taillight is standard and available with digital OLED technology, while the available Black Optic package darkens the exterior trim. Audi sets it all on standard 18-inch alloy wheels and offers 19- and 20-inch wheels as options.
Powertrain
The A5’s engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Audi quotes a 0–60 mph time of 5.6 seconds, its quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is standard, and the transmission is a seven-speed automatic. The EPA rates the A5 at 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined.
Interior
Audi hasn’t announced the A5's standard feature set for 2027, but it should get the same equipment as the 2026 model, and perhaps more. That includes leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, a power-adjustable steering column, tri-zone automatic climate control, and LED lighting. So far, we know that the option packages offer features such as ventilated front sport seats, heated rear seats, and a panoramic roof. With its hatchback body style, the A5 has more cargo space than sedan rivals. It boasts 22.6 cubic feet behind the second row and 36.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. A power liftgate is standard.
Technology
The A5 gets a standard 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch center touchscreen. A 10.9-inch touchscreen is optional for the front passenger; it lets riders control the entertainment and navigation functions and watch videos that the driver can’t see. Also expect standard navigation, a trial subscription to satellite radio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 10-speaker audio system. Tech options found in the various 2027 option packages include a head-up display, dynamic interaction interior lighting, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.
